Man Utd - Serious Discussion
Ok, without any mud-slinging back and forth, just how deep rooted are the problems at Man Utd? Weak squad (which Fergie could see coming), players wanting to leave (Rooney, Van Persie, Vidic), teams not scared of attacking at Old Trafford, Old Red Nose at every game can't help, and Moyes has now lost the plot stating that they are having to 'play against the referees' as well. Just how bad will things get? Interested to hear from any SERIOUS Man Utd fans.

I can see years of problems at Old Trafford if things continue as they are. I believe the owners of the club are paying back 70-odd million a year in interest, meaning they cannot afford the superstar signings in the way Man City, Chelsea etc can. If United miss out on Champions League football next season, as seems likely, top stars will steer away from going...

"'Man City is my team, but Manchester is my city and I’d like both teams to do us proud.'
A true supporter wouldn't make such a statement"
Guilty as charged. There's a huge difference between a true fan and a person with a thoughtful, logical mind, and I'm afraid I fall into the latter category by not being a moron. I can only apologise.

// Old Red Nose at every game can't help //
At least our ex manager is welcome and not a crook. And not facing a ban from football.
// George Graham was sacked after nearly nine years in charge, after it was discovered he had accepted an illegal £425,000 payment from Norwegian agent Rune Hauge following Arsenal's 1992 acquisition of John Jensen and Pål Lydersen, two of Hauge's clients. Graham was eventually banned for a year by the Football Association. //

I don't think many Man Utd fans expected to win the title this year, even Fergies speech to the fans at the end of last season begging them to stick by Moyes suggested they were going to struggle.
However, they have enough money behind them to buy enough players to gain a top 4 spot this season and challenge for the title again next season.
As for your serious discussion with no mud slinging, your 'Old Red Nose' comment puts you in the category of the morons you keep harping on about

The problem with Manure fans is here for all to see. They won't accept the fact that they are in the toilet and can only revert to cheap shots (gromit bringing up George Graham, something that happened nearly 20 years ago!). Yes, they are used to success, but that's because most of them jumped on the glory trail in the mid 90s instead of supporting their local teams. Fickle, fickle fickle. Hence the fire drill at Old Trafford last Sunday, when the ground emptied and fans were booing and hurling abuse on their way out. As for having the money to splash out on 4 or 5 quality players, don't hold your breath. The club is seriously in debt to the tune of nearly £600 million due to the fleecing by the yank cowboys. We all know our own clubs failings, so don't waste your time reminding us. Just look in the mirror and admit you are in serious trouble and a lot of us are enjoying every minute! As I said before, you might well get to the league cup final, but Man City will absolutely murder you. So enjoy your journeys home from Wembley to the Home Counties, and the south west! I tried to keep this serious but some of your replies are just laughable. Keep up the good work Moyesie!

If United miss out on Champions League football next season, as seems likely, top stars will steer away from going there. Ferguson, for years, got by, but he jumped ship when he saw the true problems which lay ahead. I doubt United would have won quite so much recently without him. I'm not a Man United fan, but have tried to be SERIOUS. I believe they have SERIOUS problems.
At last, two serious contributions. Elvis and Sipowicz please feel free to abstain from this thread. Your remarks are worthless anyway, so really make no contribution to the overall discussion. Leave it to people who know what they're talking about and have something interesting to say, rather than nitpicking fools.
Let's not forget that Ferguson's beginnings at Manchester United were not that bright, and he was almost out before he began.
David Moyes did an excellent job for Everton considering the lack of funds available. He is a good, honest and decent man, he is also a first class manager, and his time will come, but he has to be given that time.
I wish him well with his new club, thank him for the 11 years he gave to us, and relieving us of Fellaini, and wish him every success for the future, except when he plays Everton of course!
