Is Ashley the only person who will not call it St James' Park?

Heard The Moose on Talksport this morning almost having a hissy fit about it.
To him it's St James' Park and went on to explain why when challenged that they haven't moved to a new ground.

They're a passionate bunch of fans (I suppose most footie fans are) so I wonder if they'll agree to any possible move. Haven't they been there for more than 100 years? Tradition and all that.

yes but a club's history is one of the lesser concern for football businesses these days, particularly those clubs that have ambitions to be at the top

True, bibble, it is a business after all. No-one is going to throw money away voluntarily and footie clubs cost a heckuva lot.
Tradition and the past won't put trophies in a cabinet.

Wimbledon comes to mind - the owner decided that he wanted to be in Milton Keynes and so that was that.

Why on earth would anyone want to be in Milton Keynes?

Watching a footie results programme some time ago (forced on me btw) and the presenter said MK Dons and the result I asked who on earth are MK Dons and all subsequent female-type questions.
I can understand Highbury becoming the Emirates as they moved (or am I confusing more teams)

You are correct with Arsenal moving to the Emirates stadium, albaqwerty.

With Wimbledon a lot of the supporters objected to the move and so AFC Wimbledon was born. They have progressed all the way to League 2 (the old 4th division) whilst MK Dons are in League 1 (3rd division).

Sports reader on the Beeb has mentioned that the fans will still call it St James' Park but presenters will have to call it Sports Direct. 20 million into the coffers each year isn't to be sneezed at.

I'm sure Toon Army fans would find this easier to take if it was a major company paying a bucket load of money, ie the Etihad Stadium or the Emirates, but Ashley is apparently doing this to illustate the advantages to potential investors.
