I am having a disagreement with a colleague.
I say that the NMC guidelines forProfessional Conduct say that in so many words that a nurse must hand over her care to the next individual, she says it does not. Not even remotely!
I would really appreciate someone to settle this us.

i havent looked at the code recently, however common sense tells me it is not so. For example, i am a lone worker with my own caseload. I do nt on a routine basis hand over the care of my patients to anyone, however i dont consider that i am breaking my code of conduct as a nurse. if it was a case of putting a patient at risk, then yes, care should be handed over. If you can post the relavent section you are disputing i may be able to help more - i cant be bothered to re-read the whole thing
