Scrabble Playing Sales Girl
3 Answers
I regularly play Scrabble on line with my sons who live in Denmark and France. It is called "Words With Friends" and it is good fun.
Presumably it is an open site where strangers can play each other.
I was approached today by a lady called "Flo from Progressives "to play a game.
After about 3 moves each and some informal chat between moves, she asked me to contact her directly at an insurance company to discuss a savings scheme.
I stopped playing immediately and looked her up on Google. It turns out that she is an American insurance saleswoman, Stephanie Courtney,45, an ex-actress!

She does, indeed, play 'Flo' in a very successful series of US TV ads ( http:// at.prog ressive .com/fu n-and-e ntertai nment ) but she might be totally unaware that someone employed by Progressive Insurance (or by a firm working for them) is using the character's name online.
As an analogy, you might encounter 'Oleg From The Meerkat Ads' online (if CompareTheMarket.com decided to use a similar spamming technique) but I somehow doubt that he'd be the 'real' Oleg ;-)
