Hang on sec please, you know of a philosophy that can put an end to world hunger, cancer, the restoration of limbs lost in wars???? How selfish of you not to share it with us. Dont worry i wont be asking anyone for forgiveness. But here are a couple of things that you might want to consider. Christianty is not responsible for all of the worlds ill's. If you dont believe in something thats your choice but dont go throwing your opinions around if your not going to back them up with anything other than mocking statements and cheap shots at other peoples beliefs.......

@natas liah, how has it been debunked? I've seen many naturalistic attempts at explaining the evidence away, but I've not seen one that doesn't just cause many other problems. The only problem the resurrection has is that it requires divine intervention, a problem for a lot of people, but not a problem for people who believe in God.

Of course its not a problem for people that believe in God. People that believe in God (and more precisely, christians) believe whatever they are told and dont question the evidence against such ridiculous claims. In the same way that folk of other belief systems dont (or wont) question THEIR belief systems.

The evidence is very important to me as a Christian because, if Jesus didn't die and rise again, my faith is completely irrational. A lot of other Christians feel the same way. Some people have came to Christ through the evidence that's there is. A Oxford history professor said the resurrection is the most attested event of the period, a former lord chief justice in England said no intelligent Jury could deny the resurrection. (full quotes at the end). These are intelligent people who know what they are talking about, not just some weak minded people who've been brain washed by church. They're other examples of people like this saying similar things in a link I've provided.
You can do one of 2 things, you can investigate the evidence for yourself, or you can't. Considering the only criticism you've leveled against Christianity I'm guessing you haven't looked at the evidence. If you have, you're entitled to your opinion and I apologize for that remark. If you haven't then I encourage you (and everyone, Christian or non-Christian) to look at it seriously, and not just dismiss offhandedly. I believe that for the non-Christian it will surprise, and for the Christian it will strengthen your faith.

I suspect that you are referring to passages in Josephus
That particular one is so crudely tamperred with the monks may as well have used a crayon!
In it it finishes "He was the Christ" - Now recall Josephus was, lived and died a Jew

I think youre missing the point if you ask why people fall for this.
You are approaching religion as a set of philosphical ideas that you should weigh up and decide whether they are true.
Most religious people I know don't look on it like that - any more than they decide what car to buy by making a list of it's pros and cons and drawing up a value per feature chart.
They look on the things they get out of it.
Top of the list is often a sense of community - of belonging

That's why you can't convert a Christian by logical argument - you convert a Christian by showing the evil in the world and undermining their sense of warmth and order which is another big thing they get out of it

There's not just Josephus, though he does say the Jesus' own brother James died for belief in Jesus and this is a passage not disputed
All I'm trying to do here is get people to investigate this for themselves, I'm not qualified to much more than that.
As for the William and Kate condoms, what can I say? I'm a student. They're in my draw right now and I think they'll make the perfect joke birthday present for a friend of mine who's obsessed with the royal family and who we keep teasing about having STIs. If the fact I have a strange sense of humour means you can't take what I say seriously then take the people I've quoted seriously. As I've said, all I can do is encourage people to investigate this stuff for themselves.

@jake-the-peg I really hate those sorts of reasons for being a Christian, it's a reason for you wanting Christianity to be true. If belonging is one's primary motivation then I have to wonder if they have genuine belief. A sense of belonging is good, yes, but pretending to believe in a person who died and rose again is an insane way of achieving it. I do know a person who now has genuine belief in Christ which started off with him just wanting to be part of a Church, but the Church realised that he wasn't a genuine believer at that point. Anyhoo, it's not the reason most people are Christians and it's not the reason I am.
Why is it always Christianity that people like you see fit to attack Natas liah? There are three main religions as well as many others such as Hinduism, Bhuddism and Shinto.
Rather than just criticise or attack Christianity why don't you include Muslims and Jews? The three main religions all worship the same single god under a different name. All that differs are the methods of worship. Why don't you throw stupid comments at Mohammed instead or those who rever him? What about Jews? Perhaps you see Christians as safe to insult in their milliobns but you don't have the bottle to insult Muslims or Jews in the same vein.
