Every year its the same; We get paid at the end of every month but come Christmas we get paid early (on the 18th) which means there's a hell of a long wait until the end of Januarys pay run.

Everyone moans about it and doesnt seem to grasp the concept of budgeting. We get paid the same every month so you just have to make it last. We're all getting paid early so we should have money left over from Novembers pay - which will help.

I dont understand the mentality. I dont get paid a huge sum and have to make it last as well. I really cant see the problem.

Are people really going to rush out and spend all their money because they've been paid 10 days early?

The answer is yes - a lot of people are. Their concept of budgeting is have money - must spend it NOW.
They should try being self employed !!!!!!!!!!!!!
They probably spend more in December as it's Christmas. I write everything down or spreadsheet it beforehand and plan.
It helps if I have a good night at the Casino.
yes that happens where I work. Because of all the moaning this year we offered to pay early in January aswell, to make it easier and they said no!!!!!!!!
Yes it happens in our work and I never manage to budget effectively and am skint the last few weeks of january lol!
we are getting paid on the 22 instesd of the 25th but i budget until the 25 and don't spend it early, it also helps as i don;t celebrate xmas i don;t have lots of extra costs this month!
I always budget and even if I get payed early, I just pay bills early so I know that once all those are paid I can relax abit and buy few treats.

Nice to see most people on AB are financially astute. Apart from JJ who's obviously a career gambler ;-)
Hey all,

This year we are getting paid on 4th December, then on the 31st December then again 4 weeks later. Although may be for the last time :-(
Poor wiggal. We may be in the same position.

Who cares now when you get paid, the fact is you get paid!!
Ta Loftie!

I know my last time by my current work is in the very near future, either beginning of Jan or maybe only a month later, and my other half has been out of work for 3 months now (he is a contractor) so yes, it is very much atleast I am getting paid!!!

Hope all works out for you and Mr Wiggal in the New Year. Every cloud and all that!
we always get paid on the last working day of the month.

it always surprises me that people get into financial trouble at Christmas. it generally falls at the same time each year!
iusually put my early december wages into my other internet account for 10 days (or however long) as it just takes a few clicks and hey presto it feels like i haven't been paid at all! Then i put it back in my account on the last day of the month, when i normally get paid and there you go. Simples.
In some European countries pay is divided into 13 months and you get paid double in December - how cool is that?
I used to get paid 4 weekly beanebabe but people with monthly direct debits didn't like it.....
When I first started teaching, in 1970, we got paid for July and August in July! Even with the very best of intentions, we ate a lot of beans towards the end of September!
