Rowan Williams = Twunt.

One rule for all, thank you, or else I'm going to start demanding separate atheist-friendly laws.

This is my last point for this question because where the people like wizzard 66 says and I said earlier that when people are driven by their lust and desires then they do think that every thing thy do is right. As WIZZARD66 said and my point is that the people who are allowing that a man can marry a man and adultry is CIVILISATION then trust me I m better of being BACKWARD. And I would pray that my next generations should stay backward as well. Wizzard 66; atleast those BACKWARD people do know who their father is and they do not have to arrange DNA test for that.

Wiz, no he's not drunk - he's Muslim. Personally, I think it's good to have a Muslim contributing to R&S - even though, as a divorced and remarried woman, I expect I'd be an adultress in his eyes. I can take that - it's still good to have other points of view expressed here. The only way people of different cultures will ever have a hope of understanding each other, and of living in peace together, is to communicate in a civilised manner.
Wizard66. You should learn something from Naomi.
Keyplus90 - I hope you will post regularly. It will be different to get a muslim reaction to criticisms of islam.
Waldo - Whilst listening to Fridays' P.M. programme on radio 4, my ears pricked when I heard the e mails being read out. The one from the guy thinking of forming his own church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster!
Waldo, it must have been YOU! Please do tell. The e mail went down very very well in my opinion.
Keyplus 90 - If you had been around on Answerbank for a while, you would have realised that Wizard is in fact a de-frocked priest. He was just too fond of the altar wine and chasing the nuns around their convent, one of whom, Naomi, had a soft spot for him, and has stood by him ever since. She is the only one who can calm him down, when he falls back into his old ways.
He also likes music.

Sorry to disappoint, Theland. Did you think I'd made it up?

Oh No! I feel like the kid who just got told that Santa is really his Dad creeping around the house in his underpants!
But .... the e mail? It had your hallmark I'm sure!
And I did so much want to be acquainted with somebody who had been on the radio ... famous even?

I swear on your life it wasn't me.

Graciousness is your hallmark Waldo.
Enjoy your day and well earned rest.
I am not sure what a twunt is so I am not sure if I agree, but presumably someone daft.

What amused me in someways is how vociferous some Christians have been in denouncing the idea of religious law being a way of enforcing certain codes of behaviour. I would have thought they would have seen it as a step in the right direction. As someone who doesn't believe in Santa Claus, the tooth fairy, Mohammad or Jesus, I struggle with the concept of any divine law, Sharia or otherwise.

What also makes me smile is the hysterical reaction his comments have aroused. In Britain, Christianity, the Church has a declining authority and power. Legislation in this country has historically been written by the wealthy for the wealthy - hence crime against property often having a more severe punishment than crime against a person. Those people who hold the largest percentage of wealth, are in the main self serving, they certainly are not going to hand over their advantages position are they. Its poor old Rowan trying to promote the importance of religion which will only appeal to the converted minority.
Hello Ruby, I'm truly astonished to see you find the 'hysterical reaction' , as you put it, amusing, and that you are not denouncing this suggestion in the strongest possible terms. Knowing what we know of Sharia Law, do you think that women would receive what we would consider to be fair judgement in such a court, especially, for example, on matters of matrimony?
I ubderstand a man can have 5 wives (ideally) more if he can afford to keep them.
How many husbands can a woman have? If it's no more than 1 then where's the equality?
A man says I divorce you 3 times and it's done (a woman has just been divorced by text in Dubai) but a woman has to go through the the Imam.
The polygamy question as I understand it has been policy since 1986, I don't think money's the real issue here. The passport is.
As I said before that if someone is here to get rid of their misconceptions about Islam or any other religion then her is the link, You would find the answer of your many questions about Islam. But if you are here only to wate time as few people have nothing else to do, (with due respect to few here) who I can sense are trying to understand other religions. One thing I better tell you that this guy Dr Zakir Naik has had debates with the most well known Scholars of all the religions and so far according to records he has proved that there is not even a single thing wrong in Islam. And I really mean the WELL KNOWN SCHOLARS. Not the people like who do not even know about their own religion. I can bet with all of you here that this guy has more knowledge about any religion in the world than the people who are from that religion. WIZARD 66. Especially you should read this, I know it would still not do you any good, because few people just want to kepp their eyes shut.http://www.irf.net/irf/faqonislam/index.htm
keyplus, with all due respect, you may think there's nothing wrong with your religion, but others don't agree with you - and they are entitled to their opinions. Furthermore, I can assure you that there are people on here on R&S who are extremely knowledgeable. The problem is when anyone is devout in any religion, they are indoctrinated, and so are unable to open their minds to consider other possibilities.

Incidentally, it's my personal opinion that all organised religions are wrong. They cause nothing but conflict and misery, and without religion the world would be a better place.

Naomi. I can assure you , although that is not my job that its the people who have made religion look bad. That is the reason I would say that do not look at the people from any religion. Look at what the religion says. Look at the religious books and you would find which one makes sense and which one does not add up. If you would look at the people, may be they are not following the their beliefs right way any way. Like who created the Church of England. Any one who wants to have religion the way they want to do the things, they change it. Does bible say you have sex without marriage? Yes or no. Does bible say a man can marry a man? yes or no. Although I believe today in this world there is no copy of the real bible. Even Christians believe that as well. If you do not agree read this.http://islamcode.com/
