I'm sure I saw a question from you about my beliefs, and I was just about to answer it but I can't find it now. Any hints?

naomi - I suspect someone has complained about it so the Powers that be have removed it.

Mentioning Muslims and Christians in the same sentence has become so very contentious!

Anyway, I found you now - what evidence have we got that Christ survived the Crucifixion and went to live in the east?

Someone complained? What about I wonder? I've just thought - it must have been Jack's question about people being mentally ill. No wonder I couldn't find your question!! I thought I was dreaming!! Oh I do hate this sort of censorship. Things ought to be discussed - not swept under the carpet.

If you put Jesus and Kashmir, or related words like survival into google, it will give you lots of sites to look at. Very interesting.
Might I venture that you are replying to these questions as you either have something to share, or you are still looking for answers yourself?
naomi, are you refering to this book
http://www.amazon.com/Jesus-died-Kashmir-tribe s-Israel/dp/0860330419
its a book that I read myself years ago.Dont remember much about it but I do remember reading it when I started to question biblical christianity. I also remember writing to the library in America to request a copy of a document that was quoted in the book and recieved the reply that the document quoted did not exist and that they had recieved numerous requests for the same.It made me doubt the authors integrety.Wouldnt mind reading it again though to refresh my memory.

I love history, and I've studied this particular subject along with other related matters for years. It's fascinating. I never stop asking questions because I am looking for answers. One thing I am certain of is that the answers are not to be found in religion.

Hi Wiz, I don't think I've read that - but I will. Thanks.

I know you don't believe that Jesus existed, but what did you think of the book in general? Often with books on this subject one has to question the authenticity and the reliability of the authors' sources, but nevertheless some of these people do have some rather interesting theories don't you think?.
naomi, as I said, it was a long time ago when I read it but it was partly instramental in causing me to look into history outside of the bible and yes, there are some interesting theories, however, for me, they are still only theories. As regards there being an actual historical jesus the evidence is at best, scant and at worst, non existant. The parallel stories of (pre christian) dying and resurecting saviour gods would indicate that the jesus myth is nothing more than another version of an ancient and perenial ledgend.

anyway naomi, ive got to have a colonoscopy (camera inserted into my @rse) tomorrow and the laxetives that Ive got to take in order to clear out my bowels are starting to work so I'm off...catch you later.
Hi naomi - back with you now.

I think one thing is clear and that it no two people will have the same outlook or view on the same subject.

One thing that has done the Christian faith a disservice are Christians themselves who adopt a pompous condescending and very arrogant view that anyone who does not convert or believe the Word, is damned.

Sure, it's a viewpoint, but my Christian faith centers around a loving God - a universal humanist kind of a God. A God of love and harmony. This kind of God is the one that we all should try and find in ourselves.

Christianity helps me to do that - but it's a faith for me, not a religion.

And even if Christ did not die, or even if he did not exist, what he stands for is still a pretty good dogma in my book and the concept of forgiveness, is properly applied, is a powerful notion indeed.

The leap of faith is a very personal leap, step or jump - and should be respected, just as Christians should be open minded enough to hear other voices and to allow informed debate.

I'm not your average Christian naomi!!

scotchollie: sounds about right to me.
Question Author
Wiz: good luck - and let me know how you get on. I know all about that.
scotchollie talks a lot of sense.
Question Author
Theland, Scotch doesn't believe as you do, so why do you say he talks a lot of sense?
Scot talks a lot of sense because he understands the basics - love, forgiveness.
Question Author
Theland: love and forgiveness has always been precisely my point, but according to you without becoming a Christian that won't get you into heaven.
