The bible scholar, H.C. Leupold, believed that the "sons of God," were descendents of Seth, the godly line who are detailed in Genesis 4:25 - 5:32.

Theland, 'in his view'? We all have views which are all just as valid, because no one, no matter how scholarly, knows what really happened - but his offers a way to worm around an awkward question, so it seems that'll do for you.

Well I can only suppose that his, "view," would be different to others views, as he would be able to bring more historical context into his study than the rest of us.
Similarly, scientsts also hold "views" that abiogenesis is a fact, even though it has never been demonstrated. They just say it must have been like that, as the possibility of the existence of God is anathaema to them.

Theland, none of this is relevant to this question. We're not talking about the creation of the world, or about evolution. The bible, in this instance, makes a definite distinction between the "sons of god" and "the daughters of man". If we assume that the daughters of man were indeed that, if they had mated with ordinary men, any resulting children would have been ordinary people. However, we're told these women mated with the sons of god, and the children they produced weren't ordinary - they were giants, and therefore something else must have been going on.
Could it be that the numerous scholars, philosophers etc that lent their services to the various versions of the bible later decided to omit the parts that didn't quite fit into their book of enlightenment and the stories of these beings from another world/s mating with mortal earth women were hidden or purposefully lost?
Luna, I think many writings have been omitted from the bible because they didn't fit - the Book of Enoch for example -but there's still plenty in there to suggest that things in ancient times were not quite as the church would have us believe.

I'm not suggesting for a moment that these monstrous, ancient stones are evidence of giants living on earth, or that they prove anything - but I've been there and I've seen them - and they are incredible. I have to wonder how ordinary men, if the builders were ordinary men, could have moved and positioned such enormous stones - and why they wanted to work with such unmanageable weights and dimensions in the first place?

Your question has prompted me to peruse the pages once again as I bought it about ten years ago.
He, like yourself is trying to find the truth behind the stories of the forbidden legacy of a fallen race sometimes called Watchers and sometimes The Nephilim. He states there are also close connections to the Adam & Eve story because these large race of beings were said to have very gaunt faces, strange snake-like eyes and were purported to have had corrupted earth women and men by giving them sacred knowledge only kept for higher beings.This may be connected to the later written Judaeo and Christian belief about Eve talking to a snake and it giving her info normally reserved for the gods/ancient people as their tree of knowledge.The nephilim could of been giants or in relation to others on earth, a very tall race much like some African tribes.Either way, I don't think Andrew Collins comes to any hard conclusion but does offer many alternatives on a theme, all of which I find fascinating. Many archaeologists,scientists and architects have said in the time stated, it would of been impossible for even the largest amount of slaves to move and position the tons of stone to their desired location with the precision they were supposed to have used.

Luna, no I haven't read that, but I'll get it. This subject fascinates me. I know there has to be something in all these ancient texts that we're missing.
