Its interesting how you all quote the bible and see yourself as christians and followers of it message.Yet each one of you would not see each other as christians.
Pugwashjw, as a jehovahs witness, would not see Theland & Fingerprint as belonging to God.
Theland, as we all know, detests Roman Catholocism, so would not see Fingerprint as "saved" and would certainley not accept Pugwash's J.W's as christian.
Fingerprint, as a catholic, would not accept Theland's protestantism or Pugwash's J.W. views

Question is, if the bible is the inspired word of God, how come you all disagree with each other?
Wizard,be fair--they all hate. Even if it's only us Non-believers.
I don't hate non-believers. I think it is for God to decide if someone is saved or not. I believe in the bible and i believe Jesus is my Lord and Saviour. It is wrong to judge others.

coco pops...the question is, if the bible is the inspired word of God, how come you all disagree with each other?
The bible is the inspired word of God but us lot are human
and we are not perfect so we disagree. God gave us brains so he expects us to use them and so we all do our own thing.
Maybe it is all Adam , Eve and the snakes fault!
We, (and you), all read the newspapers, watch T.V. and experience life in our own sphere, but come the general election, we may all vote for different parties, despite seeing the same party political broadcasts.
So, to a certain degree, we may impose some subjectivity on our political views rather than being completely objective.
Maybe it's the same with our faith?
But, no, I do not hate any individual because that person hold different beliefs to my own, and that includes unbelievers, like yourself.

Ah, I see. A talking snake, an apple and a couple of nudists and the world as gone to pot because of these things.
"and God gave us brains so he expects us to use them".
err...ok!
Question Author
Theland, so the bible isnt objective then? Its open to interpretation?
Question Author
And you would accept that Pugwash and Finger were "saved".
A simple yes or no would suffice
Hello Wizard, I don't really agree with the premise of the question that none of us would see the others as Christians. Christianity is a very broad faith with numerous different groups and different interpretations of scripture, and I do take your point that some Christians are very dogmatic about their own ways. I think what Theland said was quite true, we have all experienced different things in life and seen the world from different perspectives so as with anything there is variation between opinions.

Although there are practices or beliefs in other denominations that I may not neccessarily agree with, I do believe that God is working in a number of Christian Churches. We all share a great deal of common ground, and as long as we have accepted Jesus in our hearts I believe God will forgive us for anyways in which we may have been mislead.

Finger, you may be the exception to the rule. Most catholics that iv'e known have not accepted protestants as been christian.though perhaps times are changing.Thelands rants about catholocism are well known on A.B and Pugwash as a J.W. would not recognise ANY other denomination, of that im certain, but I really would like to hear his side
Question Author
But the point is, how can people hold such wildly differing views if the bible is an infallible guide to life?
Is god a trinity or not?
should we pray to Mary
Is celibacy a requirment of priests?
Does hell exist?
I don't really know many Jehovas Witnesses so I cannot really speak for them, although their theology is quite dramatically different to anyone else's so maybe this is why they find mainstream Christian views difficult if they do.

I cannot say that in my experience that the majority of Catholics have this type of attitude although I do accept that some do.
I have a lot of time for JW, and Mormons. If they knock at my door, I will always invite them in for a chat. I've had the JW for multiple visits over the years, and they are lovely people. It's only on about visit 5 when they tell me my NIV is a bad translation that I politely agree to differ.

I don't make a big issue of doctrinal differences which are not extreme. I don't believe in transubstantiation, but I don't think it's important. I have grave problems with the Trinity. Jesus is called the Son of God, and that is the picture I am comfortable with. Similarly the virgin birth, does it really matter ?
Read Matthew 25. It showed me the futility of different sects within the church. I still love God but church just isn't for me.
I've spoken to quite a few JW's over the years and work with one now. Really nice people, and very knowledgeable regarding the bible, their translation that is.
We used to have Mormons visit us regularly, who would spend a few hours discussing their views and listening to ours. They also are great people, although I strongly disagree with their doctrines.

Theland...dodging the questions again?
If you cant see (for some reason) the questions that have been asked of you on this page, here they are again..
Is the bible objective or subjective?
Is it open to interpretation?
Would you accept that pugwash (as a J.W.)
or Fingerprint (as a catholic) were "saved"?
You have directed nothing but vitriol against catholics in your posts and called J.W's a cult.
Calling people "nice" doesnt wash when you consider them as people in need YOUR interpretation of spirituality.
Wizard69 - As you know, I consider the doctrines of the Roman church, and the Kingdom Halls, and Salt Lake City, to be wrong.
They, undoubtedly consider me to be wrong. We ALL consider YOU to be wrong. But, hatred? No, I don't think so.
There is a difference in my attitude to individual R.C.'s J.W.'s and Mormons, and the misleading doctrines that come out of their churches.
For example, in the 1940's, the president of Slovakia was a Roman Catholic priest, (Tisla or Tusla or similar name), who came to an agreement with the Nazis to export Slovakian Jews for slave labour, (and ulimately the death camps), and pay the Germans 500 marks per head to cover costs! So, no, I can't approve of the Roman religious / political engine that has always promoted the good of Rome, rather than biblical spirituality.
But, you may remember me saying, my father was R.C. and my son in law, and brother in law are R.C. Do I hate them? Do I hate Fingerprint? You answer.
