Naomi - You are being silly now, or simply don't understand.
Either you believe in a first cause or you don't.
It's about the issue, not your ego.
Stephen Hawking said that as long as there was a law of gravity, the universe can and will create itself.
That is poor philosophy.
Laws describe the interaction between entities, but are nothing in themselves.
Gravity describes the bending of space caused by the presence of mass.
Hawking, like other New Atheists, cling to their materialistic worldview, that dictates that the universe contains within it, the means for it own creation.
Al Khalili does not conclude his lecture with a plausible beginning, but assumes a vacuum full of Zero Point Energy, (ZPE), that lends itself to the brief formation of virtual particles and anti particles that go on to annhialate themselves.
But that would conclude of space and energy being past eternal, and we know that the universe had a beginning 13.7 billion years ago, when space itself was created, along with energy, so he is far from accurate in his assumptions.
There is nothing in his lectures to nullify the truth of the creation account in the Bible.
Theland, this isn’t about me so please stop making everything personal as you do. This is about your failure to offer supporting evidence for your theory. All you ever do is dismiss any other theory and say God did it - but you never say how or why - or even who or what or where God was when he did it.
Everything is nothing when you've got no-one and you just walk in the night, slowly losing sight of the real thing. Tender love is blind.
Naomi - I have made a relatively detailed statement and you choose to ignore its content.
This is not a serious discussion, and I feel I am wasting my time.
Finally.
Zacs - I tried.
Theland, I haven’t ignored its content. All you do is dismiss science but you never give good reason for claiming that God is responsible. It’s reminiscent of Labour voters here pulling the Conservative party to bits. They never actually tell us why we should vote Labour but they want us to all the same.
Hope.
So you don't 'know'.

Nothing is ever learned by presuming you already know.
But the secular materialistic atheists claim, (I think), the universe is all that there is.
Therefore the cause / reason for the existence of the universe must be contained within it.
I find that impossible to comprehend.

What I find no less interesting than what little we know so far about everything is understanding the means and process by which we have come know anything at all.
Sir Isaac Newton, a Christian, posited that God made the universe to be discovered and understood, and gave us the gifts of curiosity, observation, experimentation, and the intelligence to use these to have a better understanding of Gods creation, and therefore God.
Anyone can be mistaken.
Oh no! Theland has taken to ‘doing a Khandro’! Abandoning his own reasoning in favour of the word of people he thinks should influence us with their godly deliberations. Why do you think any man knows more than another on the subject of an unknown, unseen, and unproven God, Theland? You insult your own intelligence - along with ours.
Naomi - that is uncalled for but not surprising.
Practically everything I say seems to be unacceptable to you Theland. Why not have a stab at answering my question?
Naomi - According to your materialistic worldview, the answers are all contained within the material universe.
Please do not make demands that I answer your questions.
This is not a courtroom, and you are not a cross examining barrister. And I am not a trained poodle to come to heel when you snap your fingers.
Theland, no demands from me. You’re making it up - again.
