Well, I'll Be A Monkey's Uncle.

Cheeta's uncle Bo Bo was the first to use this expression I believe ;-)
really cheap at twice the price, the other was coined by non-mathematicians.

Monkey's uncle dates from the Scopes trial.
Tarzan, lol!

Thank you all. I really didn't know the monkey's uncle thing.
The cheap at half the price still eludes me.
tarzan................in a dress ?
He could have been Jane as well !.
"Cheap at half the price" is just a joking play on "It would be cheap at twice the price" a piece of market stallholders' spiel to attract customers.(Other gems of spiel are "Come closer, people. I'm not shouting for anybody" (invariably shouted) and "Ladies and gentlemen, I am not 'Here today and gone tomorrow'. Oh no, I am here today and gone this afternoon !")
Googling

"cheap at half the price origin"

gives a lot of options
Only as a TA-rzan, tony

"Weekends only please"
