Have these people actually "walked" in the shoes of these religions they seem to spend all of their time and effort slating?

Surely you can only really judge them if you have been within them and know them inside out and have other religions where you've also walked in their shoes to compare them to?

I sometimes look around on the net and see people tirelessly and fiercely crusading against these religions but then see they have nothing to go on except hearsay, rumour and mass hysteria caused by shady media mediums and their uneducated peers, family and friends no less!

What are your views on these wasters of time and tireless crusaders?

Better education at a grass roots level?

Goodlife, well done, at last it looks as if you are using your own thoughts ant words. Accepted that it is a bit of a rocky start but that is quite normal, with practice you may be able to assemble a rational argument and sustain it in the face of all contradiction. When that happens you will be welcomed by your fellow free thinkers, the atheists :-)
Goodlife, you really are getting desperate now, you are clutching at straws!

Most Atheist are Atheists because they have studied the facts and as for accepting the opinions of others, if you were to learn the facts yourself instead of other peoples opinions you may not come across as so much of a brainwashed fool.

Take your blinkers off Goodlife!
Keyplus, //Because these walls are self obsessed and all of their belief depends upon one utter arrogance, that "I know and you don't",//

You surely have that the wrong way around? I know no atheist who claims to know it all, but like Goodlife, you do – constantly - which produces a bit of a dilemma. You and he disagree with one another but logically it's impossible that you're both right - so who is right? Now let’s see. Eeny, meeny, miny, mo. No, that doesn’t work. Maybe you need to bang your head a little more – and Goodlife’s with it.
Come on you still got nothing to offer!,better education at a grass roots level.
Who has to offer anything? Again the only thing is the truth, whatever that is. If it's sad, or doesn't offer anything, well, at least it's right. And while the atheist position may yet be wrong (I'm just covering bases here), there is no reason to call it wrong just because it doesn't offer hope of an eternal afterlife.

For that matter, does the JW position offer any hope? I was under the impression that their theology included the idea that the number of places in Heaven was capped at 144,000. Not likely to be any room for me -- in which case why subscribe to that view? It only offers me eternal damnation, whereas at least in atheism I can look forward to oblivion.
Goodlife, ha ha! All your own words! No surprise it makes no sense.

Jim, no hell in the JW’s world. Instead, when everyone else has been bumped off and are condemned to the grave for eternity by this loving God, those JWs that don’t qualify for a place in heaven (most of which are occupied already, I believe), will inherit a peaceful earth inhabited only by the like-minded – so if you fancy sharing it with them, Goodlife’s the man to show you the way.

On the other hand, you might try Keyplus - he believes in hell so that's another option you could consider.

They're both right, you know, so take your pick. ;o)
Goodlife, oops, not all your own words. I see some of them are the words of the OP. Still don't make any sense though.
Oh, that's a relief. I almost want to be a JW now. Assured of either a happy life, or nothing at all. Win-win.
Ha ha! There you are Goodlife. Grab him! Your first taker on AB.

Better luck next time, Keyplus.
The 144,000 are the elect who will reign with Christ in heaven, Jiim, those whom St. Paul called the "saints", born again of the holy spirit. But the bible promises a new heaven AND a new earth. The new earth according to JW theology is this earth we now live on. Of course it has to be purified first by the impending Armageedon which will get rid of undesirable influences like you and Naomi and indeed anyone else who, despite the truth which is standing on their doorstep, are perverse enough to disbelieve Watchtower doctrine.. Goodlife and his mates will live forever in this "New World" along with all the good guys in the past who will be resurrected to join them
Yep,You may find it hard to believe that someone who is reproached could be happy. Yet, it must be true, since Jesus himself said so. (Matthew 5:10, 11)
Goodlife "Yet, it must be true, since Jesus himself said so."
oh dear you really are gullible.
Goodlife, //You may find it hard to believe that someone who is reproached could be happy. //

I don't find it hard to believe at all. You reproach atheists and find it hard to believe they're happy.
Can you not see the flaw in the argument that "Jesus says it is true, therefore it is true?" That "Jesus is really the Son of God because Jesus says he is"?

I won't ever be persuaded by such circular reasoning.
V_E, Is there an estimate for how many 'good guys' there are/were? I have a suspicion that none of the recent intake have a hope in hell (forgive metaphor) of hitting the jackpot.
jom, difficult to say how many good guys there have been in the past - or how many will be born before the long awaited big day when God decides to pull the plug. You can bet they'll all rise from the grave though. ;o)
Goodlife , if you had been better educated at 'grass roots' level your understanding of rational argument and your critical abilities might have been developed to the degree that you can recognise when someone is trying to con you. Do you really want to spend your life on a fool's errand? As the saying goes 'wake up and smell the coffee'.
Naomi, Goodlife may well believe that he is going to paradise, the only paradise involved though is a fool's paradise.
Jom, I don't think Goodlife is expecting a place in paradise. He's quite happy to stay here on earth once his God's bumped all us baddies off.
About the resurrection: more fun. Of course all the wicked , not just the good guys, are going to be resurrected too in order to be judged by JC and 144,000. One of the OT prophets mentions the Edomites coming back. Christ said "[in the resurrection] the men of Sodom will rise and condemn this wicked and perverse generation. Then of course they'll be dispatched back to nothingness. All rather pointless and not a bit as gripping as the hell fire versions of Christianity, though don't you agree?
