I have just seen this of facebook and thought you might like to discuss it.

GOD IS THE GOD OF MIRACLES

A Muslim man in Egypt killed his
wife because she was reading the
Bible and then buried her with
their infant baby and an 8-year
old daughter. The girls were
buried alive! He then reported to
the police that an uncle killed the
kids. 15 days later, another family
member died.

When they went to
bury him, they found the 2 little
girls under the sand -ALIVE! The
country is outraged over the
incident, and the man will be
executed..
The older girl was
asked how she had survived and
she says:-'A man wearing shiny
white clothes, with bleeding
wounds in his hands, came every
day to feed us.

He woke up my
mom so she could nurse my
sister,' she said. She was
interviewed on Egyptian national
TV, by availed Muslim woman
news anchor.

She said on public
TV, 'This was none other than
Jesus, because nobody else does
things like this!' Muslims believe
Isa (Jesus) would do this, but the
wounds mean He really was
crucified, and it's clear also that
He is alive! But, it's also clear that
the child could not make up a
story like this, and there is no way
these children could have survived
without a true miracle.

Muslim leaders are going to have a hard
time to figure out what to do with
this, and the popularity of the
Passion movie doesn't help! With
Egypt at the centre of the media
and education in the Middle East ,
you can be sure this story will
spread.

Christ is still turning the
world upside down!
Please let this
story be shared.

The Lord says, 'I
will bless the person who puts his
trust in me.' Jeremiah 17 Please
forward to all on your list and God
will reward you abundantly!!

Mark 8:38 which says, 'Therefore
whosoever shall be ashamed of
Me and my Words in this
adulterous and sinful generation,
the Son of Man shall also be
ashamed of him when He comes
in the glory of His Father with the
holy angels'.

Olly – I will not talk about the girls buried alive and Jesus (pbuh) saving them etc as few others may not agree with all that. Be it a hoax, truth or whatever I would leave it aside. Being a Muslim I believe that Jesus (pbuh) was a messenger, a messiah, and healer of lepers and blinds. If I do not believe that then I can’t be a Muslim. That is my faith as a Muslim and is based upon what God said about Jesus (pbuh) in Quran. But I know that you would not believe anything what Quran says and therefore for you I have something from the book you believe in, Bible. Here are a couple of verses from Gospel of Mark, Chapter 16, verse 17and 18. Let me know if you believe in Jesus according to the criteria (signs) he has given for his believers in YOUR BIBLE. If you can prove and fulfil this (or even any part of that) then I will not count on any one else but would convert to Christianity myself. So that you could say that at least you managed to convert on Muslim to Christianity.

17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
Olly, //And there are other people who do the same.//

If you mean post that sort of dangerous tripe, then they should think a bit more carefully too.

Craig, thank you. Yes, I am married. :o)

Got to dash – see you all later. :o)

@keyplus90.

Hi there keyplus. I have witnessed speaking in tongues and interpretation and the healing of people years ago but not recently. Picking up snakes for no reason is foolhardy although naturalists and others do it regularly. I have no knowledge of the casting out of demons and if we were given poison to drink which was commonly done at one time in order to kill people then I do believe the Lord will deliver us. But again I have to say I have no personal knowledge of this.

I am sorry I cannot answer everything and I have never been in those situations but I can say that the Lord has protected and kept me all the days of my life for which I thank Him and I pray every blessing upon your good self. May the Lord bless you and keep you. Amen.

Olly - seems to me your God commands killing rape victims by stoning

(Deuteronomy 22:23-24 NAB)

If within the city a man comes upon a maiden who is betrothed, and has relations with her, you shall bring them both out of the gate of the city and there stone them to death: the girl because she did not cry out for help though she was in the city, and the man because he violated his neighbors wife.

Or have I 'Misinterpreted' this?
@Olly - Its worth pointing out again and again. This is clearly a hoax. When reposting stuff, don't you at least try and get some independent corroboration or verification?
http://www.snopes.com/glurge/buried.asp

And for a christian, you seem remarkably unchristian when posting. Take this illuminating little piece from you, which seems to show that humility, empathy and turning the other cheek are all unfamiliar concepts to you;

"I leave the disparaging remarks to the experts who I am sure use the forums to gather together in order to bolster their own insecurities regarding their own unbelief and as I say I regret in this instance providing you with something that is worthy of contempt, I normally leave that sort of thing to the atheists who are much better at it than I am. ;-) "

The only person here who is offering unverified miracles as real events, and then insulting others is you, it seems. You offer nothing but insult. Most debates I engage in, I do try to refrain from personal insult. I insult ideas, not individuals.

Then we have this little snippet from you;

"@NOX I have already apologised and asked how it can be deleted which shows a level of honesty. Nowadays science is discovering miracles billions of years after they have happened and our grandparents could easily have taken the same attitude as you had today's scientific discoveries been mooted back then.
Fortunately for us miracles were happening millions of years ago or we wouldn't be here and although scientists dismiss these, when they produce a test-tube baby it is hailed as a miracle of science which for them it is, which only goes to show the wonders of creation which I am happy to acknowledge while others take them for-granted and dismiss them with a wave of the hand. Personally I prefer to have an open mind on these things and acknowledge the wonder of it all."

Those paragraphs are very revealing about your attitude toward science.

1. What you term a miracle is almost always explainable using a naturalistic explanation, without resorting to divine intercession.
2.Who exactly is it who takes the creation of life, the world. or the universe for granted, or dismisses them? Certainly not scientists, who, you know, actually study it. And it is far more dismissive to point at something and say "Its a miracle! Goddunit"! Yay!
3. An open mind is fine, but one that is so open that your brains fall out and you lose all ability to reason is not.
4, What miracles is "science only now discovering" that happened billions of years ago? This sentence makes little sense.
5. A test tube baby is a miracle of science and medicine. Pity you religious types cannot acknowledge that fact.

You also posted this;
"last thing I want to do is to offend, there has been too much of that already. :-"
But you were offering individual insult and offence from virtually your first post.At least be honest.

More evidence of your scant regard for "science"

"I think we had better not go down that road naomi, atheists like to brag about scientists being atheists which isn't quite true but anyway they have provided the means of destroying the world many times over so I wouldn't brag about it"

We absolutely should be bragging about it, at every single opportunity. The capacity for abstract thought, reason, and scientific curiosity is what sets us apart from all the other animals.
We would not have the miracles of the modern world without science and the scientific method. You could not address this forum with your religious views were it not for science. Unless of course you prayed it here, without the miracles of the internet, or a computer.
Evidence shows that religiosity has an inverse relationship with scientific education; The greater your level of scientific education, the less likely it is that you will have faith in god.

@LG. I have said this before, if you cannot take it then you shouldn't dish it out.
.
@Olly -
"I have witnessed speaking in tongues and interpretation and the healing of people years ago but not recently. Picking up snakes for no reason is foolhardy although naturalists and others do it regularly."

Really? How was the healing carried out? How did you know the person was sick? How did you know the person was healed? For how long after this miracle healing did the healing persist? Did you do any controls? Was it randomised? Was the healer blinded?

Far more accurate would be to say that you believed you have seen healing, but then accuracy and corroboration are unfamiliar concepts to religion, aren't they?
And whats that comment about picking up snakes about? Naturalists do it all the time for no reason? Some evidence and some examples please, or we can just put this coment down to ill informed propaganda.
@Olly Once again - I am not the one claiming to be a more moral or better or more enlightened person because of my faith, as the religious here do.

Your insults show little evidence of that, which again points to the double standards that we always see on here from the religious.
//naomi. Ron, that link was posted on the last page.//

Sorry must have missed that one.

WR.
Lets get back to the OP. Your title was Jesus is the god of miracles. No question mark, nothing like that. Just a statement of fact, as you see it. You then offer as support of this some screed some friend of yours passed to you by the modern scientific miracle of the internet.

So you evidence to support your OP is something your mate said to you. You believe it, without reservation. You do no independent checks or offer any independent corroboration.

You now accept that this is a hoax - when can we expect to see you withdraw your original point, which fails because the evidence you offered for it was false?

And by offering this as evidence, are you not bearing false witness? Isnt that a crime or something according to your religion?
Extracting venom from snakes. A picture. What do you imagine that proves?
Naomi, you said
/There are some naive and vulnerable people reading these threads./
Only to check their spelling :-)
Sorry to spoil a good fairy story with boring pedantry but Jesus has bleeding hands only in pious paintings. Crucifixion nails were put through the wrist. The tendons of the palm would never support a man's weight.
Don't know what happened to the last post so here I go again...

...but Jesus has bleeding hands only in pious paintings. Crucifixion nails were put through the wrist. The tendons of the palms would just rip through with the weight.
-- answer removed --
What's going on here, Ed? Try again...

...were put through the wrist. The tendons of the palms would not support a man's weight.
-- answer removed --
This is getting silly. What's this one-line-at-a-time nonsense, Ed?

...would not support a man's weight.
