Apparently in the bible god killed an abundance of people and the devil only killed two or three. Obviously there's no way of getting through all of god's murders as there would be too many to mention here, but was a record kept of the devil's victims?

And that's you told, mate!

By the way, does anyone (who has not his head buried so far up his rectum) seriously go about these days using words like "overtly" and "refuted"?
Mike -

Give it up. You're just embarrassing yourself with your pettiness.
Mike -

Why do you believe that I have my head up my own you-know-what? Is it because I don't believe in god and I argue my case coherently to those who do? Is it because I use logic in lieu of superstition and unsubstantiated belief that you seem to rank so highly?

Is it because I object to people such as yourself attempting to spread lies about me? Is it because I use words longer than a couple of syllables?

Please do tell.

Failing that, grow up Mike. You're sinking to such depths of bitter vindictiveness that you'll soon be in 'Keyplus' territory.
"Is it because I use words longer than a couple of syllables? "

Got it in one mate. Logorrhoea is indeed a painful infliction. Still, nil desperandum, you can get tablets for it.
Mike, a couple of points.
1. 'Logorrhoea' is excessive verbosity, not the use of long or uncommonly used words.
2. Surely you meant 'affliction' not 'infliction' since tablets do not cure inflictions. The definition of 'infliction' is /1.The act or process of imposing or meting out something unpleasant. 2. Something, such as punishment, that is inflicted./
Is your dictionary lacking few pages?
A quick Google of the News reveals the words 'overtly' and 'refuted' appear with considerable regularity in news reports - indeed, frequently in entertainment pieces - which would suggest they're regarded as entirely mainstream vocabulary.

Weirdly, the only mention I could find of the words 'retromingent queef' was about Mike11111.
If one was prolix could ABs resident quack, Sqad, help?
I think I'd rather suffer from logorrhoea that either gonorrhea or diarrohoea
Devilish hard words to spell, those. ^
so it would appear, Sandy - especially "gonorrhoea"
Speaking of 'painful infliction' what's the term for someone who comes off as an over affectionate dog?
Jom -

Thanks for your above post. It's getting tiresome asking Mike to stop being quite so petty. A few weeks ago I accused him of being a 'troll'. He didn't take kindly to the accusation. However, here he is again on another thread displaying exactly the same 'troll-like' behaviour.

If you're reading this Mike, please for your own credibility on this website, stop with the childish jibes. Every time you post some personally derogatory remark about me or Naomi or anyone else, you just come across as some bitter old buffoon who has nothing better to do than to snipe at posters who actually care passionately about what they are saying.

I know you are better than this because I have read your contributions to AB over many years. You are allowing your antipathy of atheism and of certain atheists in particular to cloud your better judgement.

Thanks also.
So the many of the doubts that you have about the existence of the Devil have no basis beyond popular superstitions and arbitrary reasoning. These things do not constitute a valid basis for denying the reality of the Devil or for refusing to consider reliable evidence on the matter.

Did you know that during his period of permitted existence the Devil has been allowed widespread influence over mankind. Jesus referred to Satan as “the ruler of the world.” (John 14:30) And at Revelation 12:9 he is said to be “misleading the entire inhabited earth. How true even on here can see he got you.
True, indeed. I sometimes think I can hear his scales rattling and his tail dragging along the ground as he walks among the Godless here in the AB cloisters doing his evil work.
Mike11111’s consistent schoolboy stupidity has disrupted this thread – and others - for long enough. His performances in all areas belie his claims. Back to the discussion.

argorstran, my apologies for the delay. I’m well aware that stories of a great flood were recorded by various civilisations around the world, but if it was as a result of the biblical God’s handiwork, I have to question why he failed to reveal himself to anyone other than one ancient desert tribe, and hence, why he failed to take responsibility for all of it? Those who have been exposed to the bible consider him to be the creator God - and this is the fundamental claim that few seem to question, but which seriously needs to be addressed. If a creator God exists, for more reasons than one, I’m convinced it’s not him.

ll_billym, //Applying logic to religion, it's the way forward.//

Ha ha! Yes, indeed. Shame the religious don’t agree. :o)

Goodlife, //he is said to be “misleading the entire inhabited earth. How true even on here can see he got you.//

The entire inhabited earth, eh? Are you sure he’s not got you? ;o)
"Here's an idea. It may sound preposterous but hear me out. Why don't you have another look at the original question and attempt to answer it honestly and without resorting to insults? "

The original question was a joke wasn't it? By the way if a record of the devil's victims is being questioned, how do we know there were only 2 or 3 (?!)
ichkeria, I presume your suggestion is for Mike11111's attention. His initial post which failed to address the question and resulted in the subsequent related conversation here, was removed.

I don’t think the original question was a joke, and it has been answered. On the first page tamborine gave an appropriate link. The discussion has now moved on - as discussions usually do.

Misled or misleading? Kinda makes you wonder, doesn't it Naomi . . . how some of the believers amongst us work up the courage to look in a mirror?
Perhaps religion, like love, is blind.
Goodlife- “... So the many of the doubts that you have about the existence of the Devil have no basis beyond popular superstitions and arbitrary reasoning. These things do not constitute a valid basis for denying the reality of the Devil or for refusing to consider reliable evidence on the matter...”

I can't say I've ever seen any evidence for the existence of the devil in all my years on this planet. I've seen evil, vindictive, stupid, insane and misguided people doing horrific things to other people almost on a daily basis via the TV and in my own person experience but I've never seen any actual evidence that the devil exists.

Please can you give me an example of the 'reliable evidence' that you referring to?
