I'm sure this must've been asked before at some point (but I don't know how to find out!!)
Why is the Catholic Religion so keen on The Virgin Mary?
They seem to pray to her rather than God, as though she is able to 'answer prayers' when I was under the impression (wrongly?) that only God could answer your prayers.
I get that she gave birth to Jesus, which is a big deal but as far as the Bible goes, there's not an awful lot more about her....or is there?
The same can be said of praying to various saints. Why use (as I see it) a third party. Why not just pray to God directly? Is he too busy?

Matthew and Luke were inspired of God. Wikipedia was inspired of man's greed. Surely even you can spot the difference.
Christ, another non-catholic who knows more...
No, Wharton, that's an atheist. They know f***ing everything!
This is all getting too quick for me, in the beginning was Le Chat taking a dig at Roman Catholics and if I have offended anyone, well, tough.
You're right Mike – I can spot the difference. One is a unverifiable account of a person's life written by people who never met the man and who lived long after he died and the other is a website that is not run for profit. Your accusation that Wikipedia was 'inspired' by greed is simply false.

I can't say I'm surprised that you seem to be unable to tell fact from fiction. It seems to be a character trait amongst the faithful.
Mike - “... [atheists] know f***ing everything!...”

Don't be so bitter and potty-mouthed. Atheists don't know everything. Far from it. However, we do know nonsense when we hear it and unfortunately, theists talk a lot of it.
"...if I have offended anyone, well, tough."

I can just imagine the Holy Father saying that! I can now go to bed with a smile on my face.
Good night Mike.
.. and may the Lord and his Holy Angels watch over you whilst you sleep.
Wharton - “... if I have offended anyone, well, tough...”

Spoken like a true Catholic ;-)
Mike - “... . and may the Lord and his Holy Angels watch over you whilst you sleep...”

Which they won't do.
Because they don't exist.
But I accept that it's a nice delusion.
Now that's naughty!
I thought you'd gone to bed ;-)
That was a reference to your post to Wharton, not to me.
OMG, we'll know who has sinned 2moro :/

Have you stopped stoning Roman Catholics from trying to attend Mass?
Answer Yes or No.
Because Jesus is God (along with the Holy Ghost), so Catholics refer to "Mary Mother of God", taking the exaltation of Mary to new levels.

Now everyone knows how hard it is to avoid what your mother tells you to do, so why would you not pray to Mary?
Wharton - thanks for the reply. I went to bed and didn't see it until now.
Apart from the myth of Mary’s impregnation by God, there is no biblical foundation whatsoever for her elevated status within the church. All that came from various councils and popes. Statements like “Matthew and Luke were inspired of God” are completely unverifiable and as such, are no more than wishful thinking.
So, if you are 'reared' as a RC or C of E that's it? No choice, //Suffer the little children to come unto me// (and I will steal their minds).
