Do you realise that your constant chipping away at the religion of believers on this site could result in a crisis of faith for some here?
How could you stand before God on Judgement Day with that on your conscience?

I'm sure if they happened to bump into God on Judgment Day they would pretend he wasn't there - just turn their backs, make conversation among themselves, maybe play a round or two of bridge. Some might have to remove their jumpers if they started to find it was getting hot.
I am an atheist but I would not take away other people's faith. If that is what it takes to get them through this world then they obviously need it.
I would have no apologies on that.

I would stand there, throw my shoulders, and say:

"Shyte, looks like I got that decision wrong. To the kilns I go."
next time you see god ask him if i can have some of the heat now to save on my winter fuel bills
Sandy, I do believe that a sincerely held faith should be capable of bearing the weight of criticism. "Testing" of faith is something that believers should expect to address at times. What possible merit could there be in a creed that goes unchallenged?
In common with many who, like me, have no faith; I would turn the question around. I'm sure believers rarely take time to consider those of us who may experience crises of "no faith".
I never saw the problem with hedging your bets. I wouldn't condemn or dismiss God just in case that proved to be a little rash. I think that if I dismissed and maligned religion then I might have some very awkward questions to answer if I was wrong!
I know what you mean Sandy .lol... I often read posts in religion .
You have the athiests etc on one side ,the religionists on the other and never the twain shall meet .Ive never seen so much hot air .)
I don't believe in anything much .I always get a lovely feeling of peace in a church ( of any denomination I hasten to add ) when I look round them as am wont to do .
I really do think people should be allowed to believe or disbelieve and not be berated one way or 'tother .
I certainly would not berate anyone for their faith or argue the toss over it .
Each to their own .

Do you really believe that an Atheist is going to be concerned about standing before God at any time?

I certainly wont!

if you are an atheist, then how would that mean we would stand before anyone, if you dont believe then no pearly gates.
In response to the OP, aren't religious folks expected to have their faith tested on a regular basis anyway? I thought that was all part of the charade.....?
