Since it seems it is perfectly within the sites rules to enter posts personally addressed to individuals, I thought I might as well join in in my defence.

I have personally been accused of using insults etc, but those that accuse me, fail to state my remarks are only in answer to their own uncalled for consistent abuse no matter what subject I post on.

An couple of examples from the person who will go out his way to enter a personally addressed post to me, and at the same time rally his like-minded troops.

/// Since when did you manage to crawl into the 21st century, or have you suddenly realised Queen Victoria is dead.
Or is your new found realisation of the dumbing down of common sense by the establishment just an excuse to have a go at me, because I refuse to cow tow. ///

/// Not only are you a pathetic individual AOG, who cant help himself, can you, you are nothing more than a racist old bigot who needs to open your OWN eyes.
By the way you are also developing paranoia. & Yes if you like, YOU especially using that right wing rag to justify your mindless, factless & shallow rants.
To top it all your childish attitude when someone sees the issue from another angle & even more so from a higher plane.///

Continued.

Continuation.

It is also rather rich that I am always accused of always wanting to hear my slant on things, and I go off on one if people don’t agree with me.

Excuse me but isn’t that what the rest of you are more guilty of than me? eg I post a question that you don’t agree with, so you spring in with your insults..

This site is for postings one's opinions on items in the news, some will agree with these opinions other will not, but it works both ways, and a poster should not be verbally bullied, because their opinion doesn't match their own.

An example of this is that if a person is opposed to mass immigration, that person should not be personally abused by being branded a racist bigot, just these insulter's agree with mass immigration.

Has panto season run on ... or is this a preview for Christmas 2011? Oh yes it is! Oh no it's not!!

Since they seem to be as bad as one another, I'll post that in the other thread too.

I would have taken this on board as a fair comment, if you had also said the same regarding Steve5's similar post, which incidentally he posted before mine.

But then certain people are free to do almost anything, but others have to be constantly nit-picked and criticised.
Fair Comment AOG. However, I didn't even open Steve's post because it was addressed to you so was not aware of the content. It seemed to be a private argument between the two of you.

And I wasn't nitpicking at you in anyway. I genuinely just thought it would be better in the CB section. You will notice I haven't said anything else on this thread so wasn't getting at you in the least.

But I did think rightly or wrongly it was nitpicking, since, if I had posted it in Chatterbank most of them would not know what I was talking about seeing that there are not many anti-AOGs on that section.

No I thought that the news section would be the best place for it, since there was already a similar post.
AOG and I have been debate adversaries for quite some time now.

We usually manage to exchange our views in the manner of mature adults, but both have on occasions got a little 'emotional' and a couple of 'cyber-handbags' exchanges have occured, usually solved quickly with the main protagonist apologising, and hostilities ceased.

i appreciate that AOG is extremely robust in his defence of his views, and that his Questions often attract contentious opinions and responses - that said -

it is totally against the spirit and ethos of the AB to indulge in personal upbraiding of anyone, by anyone, and provocative exchanges only tend to detract from the initial Question and lead people to form opinion-cliques, which are not good for a site like ours.

If you enjoy sparring with AOG - and i do, and I think he does - then by all means fight your corner, but with respect and dignity and an absence of personal invective.

If however, you find his irrasible obervations provoke you into unseemly taunting and insults, then exercise your right to simply look elsewhere on the AB for a debate more to your liking - and there are plenty of sections to choose from.

I am fully aware that AOG needs no-one to fight his battles for him, but I feel I must speak up in the interests of the AB as a whole, and the atmosphere between all of us, which must be maintained at cordial levels, for the good of us all.

It also prevents the Ed. from having to step in and referee, which can lead to bannings, and no-one wants or needs that.

The AB's raison d'etre is the quest for information, the supply of information, and the debate around issues of the day. That will always lead to diagreements, which is fine, but not to rudeness, which is not.

OK - 'lecture' over, I'm off for a cuppa and a sit-down.

Thank God you've put the kettle on, Andy! I feel my instinct to tie the bedsheets together and make a break for it over the wall becoming stronger by the day!!
My reaction is to break the new tissue box as I am in tears............
I've said this before and will say it again - that is a fallacy, you often insult people who have NOT "abused" you. Then again, simply disagreeing with you appears to be deemed "abuse" in the Great Book Of Gittitude.
I've said this before too: I believe in the light of your regular posting of potentially inflammatory opinions that you need to turn down your sensitivity button a bit - people (myself included) are only reacting to the content of your posts, not you as a person who I'm sure is quite different IRL.
'Gittitude'. Love it. I'm rather fond of inventing words to serve where no other will suffice myself. :o)
