Events on in Manchester

I'm having a couple of days/nights in Manchester at end of September/beginning of October.

Are there any events, exhibitions, displays, concerts, gigs, etc. that you knowlegable peeps can tell me of ?

I usually don't find out about these things until 'after the event'.............
