Hi, on a couple of occasions recently I've thanked people for answers on here using the expression 'good one, chaps' or 'thanks, chaps'. I use this in the context of the word meaning 'folks' or any other non-gender-specific similar term.

Where I come from (North London) this wouldn't lead to any problems. Does it cause offence elsewhere?

I don't suppose it actually causes any offence any more than guys might when used in the same way. I have to say, however - probably because I'm an oldster - that I consider both to be suitable only for all-male groups.
