Opening a bank account

I recently had a failed business , which cost me thousands , I have asked my bank if I can have extra time to pay back the loan, but they said if I do I can no longer have a bank account with them. But my wife and I need a bank account to have our wages paid into , At the moment we are paying off what we owed a little at a time, but everyone wants it now. It is becoming quite stressful tCan you help thanks

You can open a basic account with another bank. You will not get a devit card, cheque book or overdraft facility, just a cash card.

I cannot understand the bank's attitude here if you are willing to make an effort to repay. Unless you asked for a IVA which is an act of bankruptcy.
