Okay my bank has the wrong date of birth on my current account. Now this wasn't given to them in any fraudulent way as my passport and other prove of Id was shown when opening the account. The account is student account and it is 1600 overdrawn which doesn't need to start paying back until Sept. 2006 or 07 i can't remember.

Now then because the bank has inputted my wrong DOB does this count as a loop hole to get out of paying back my OD. If not what if i change my address to my new flat that doesn't have my name against it and then move.(Account is registered at my mums.)

Surely the bank can't trace me, they can't get my credit report???

They WILL trace you. The wrong date of birth makes no difference and you can't use it as a loop hole to avoid getting out of repaying your overdraft.

If you change your address to your new flat 'that doesn't have your name against it' then it may take them longer to track you down, but they will eventually. If by not having your name against it you mean that you are not on the electoral register, then anytime you apply for credit or an account in the future, you will probably be turned down as they won't be able to verify your address.

Someone I knew applied for a credit card and ran it up to the limit. They then moved - twice - and didn't inform the credit card provider of this. They weren't even registered on the electoral register at the first place they moved to.

5 years later they got a phone call - 'Can I speak to Joe Bloggs please?', 'Speaking' - lo and behold it was a debit collection agency who had tracked him down and were chasing the debt from all those years ago!

Stop trying to be a thief, change your date of birth on the account and pay back the OD when requested.

If you were in someone else's house or office and there was 1600 in cash lying on the table would you try to steal that?
You owe the money. Face up to your responsibilities and start paying your overdraft back or at least deal honestly with the banking staff and negotiate with them. You're not a child any more. How do you think you're going to cope with the responsibilities of any job in adult life or earn the respect of your colleagues if your personal morals and values stay at this level? We have enough of this type of person in Government already - always looking for excuses to exempt themselves from following the professional codes of conduct? (Are you training to be a politician by any chance ?)
