I made a general query to my pensions dept and said i plan to retire on Thurs Feb 12th 09 my 60th birthday, I was told therefore that my last working day would be Wed 11th and my contract would end at midnight on that day, should i not be working on the day that i retire, my 60th birthday. The reason that I ask is that my pension forecast is based on me working until aged 60, and I am concerned that this will not be the case should I follow the above. thank you allgram.

It's only one day. You are not going to get docked a whole year of pension benefit if you retire early by one day - if that is indeed the correct interpretation.

hi buildersmate thank you very much for the reply, as my pension projection is based on retirement at aged 60 i was concerned that i could loose quite a sum as i was finishing contract when i was 59, i hope you could understand my frustration at the wording, again thank you. allgram.
