depends what you are apologising for, Richie hadnt done anything so yes thats weakness, but if you are in the wrong then its good to admit it, just some people just cant do that

I believe it is common courtesy and I expect it in return.

But, you get people always apologising for nowt, it does get on my nerves and I have to say to them "Don't keep apologising".

you cant have two different answers to a question asking should you never apologise.
thats impossible.
thats merely evading the question.

take another example.

We should never execute prisoners no matter what crime they commit.
Now many people are opposed to capital punishment , theres no sometimes if the question is never then the answer can only be yes no or unsure .

it cannot be yes and no .
to say that is to avoid answering properly.
