Muslims don't believe in getting money for nothing. For example, they don't charge interest on loans.
So can they accept benefits because that is getting money for nothing?

And, one of their pillars is Zakah. In which they should give a percentage of their salary to charity. If it is a Muslim charity can the Muslims accept the money as that is also money for nothing?

Thankyou.

I would accept money for nothing any day of the week, I'm not daft.
I find this rule to be very contradicting an so many ways ....

Perigra.
they don't agree with getting something for nothing or receiving profit without working for it.
I just though surely if a Muslim family was to receive benefits it would be breaking this
Well i don't know anything about their cultural or religious beliefs about receiving money for profit etc, but I can tell you that you'd be agog at the amount which do the lottery and buy scratchcards, as I sell them their tickets.
is that not deemed ganbling B00?
is that not deemed gambling B00?
Yeah, but I'm assuming they'd term any money they won as a profit which is against their beliefs???

Nope Legend, hence the ??? at end of my post- as it's a whole grey area for me!

Is there such a thing as a non devout muslim?
Question Author
I guess it comes down to how orthodox they are,
and whether they just choose to 'overlook' certain
aspects of their religion
Yeah I guess so, I suppose like any religion there's some more devout than others.

And
Gambling in all its forms is prohibited.

This includes Casinos, Internet Gambling Outfits, betting, such as Horse and Dog racing, ...etc.

Lottery schemes can also be considered as a form of gambling, regardless if it is run by governments or not.

Islamic law bans usury, as I believe Christianity used to do (that's how Jews got into the moneylending business in the middle ages: they were the only ones allowed to). They don't believe in collecting interest. This has nothing much to do with benefits, or with charity. Like anyone else, they pay the state taxes when they're flush and go on the dole when they're unemployed.
