In the USA, bears have been the favourite and most traditional cuddly toy since Theodore Roosevelt's hunting trip in 1902 inspired a shop owner to create teddy bears. By sheer coincidence, they became popular in Germany in the same year, and a few years later they became popular in England too.

What about other parts of the world? How wide spread is the popularity of the teddy bear, and are other animals the most popular cuddly toy in other countries?
