I wonder if he has read Matthew 19.24 which reads:-
‘It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.’

Very funny Barry, you know I meant his wealth!
I think he’s a lovely man and don’t see any reason for the OP which is very spiteful. He has gone through some very deep sadness. I wish him well in his new home, and hope he finds some solace.
Didn't the cottaging thing fade away years ago?
barry; "Of course he earns money working, Ken."

Barry, the reason i 'wondered' if he earned anything from the Pause For Thought slots is because they are less than 5 mins in duration and are presented by clergy of all faiths. As they are basically 'spreading the message', i wondered if they 'volunteered' their services in order to get their messages across?
Nice wee cottage . Maybe room for a Ukrainian family , . ?
‘It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.’

Cliff Richard may struggle then!

That sort of biblical verse was written by someone keen to get rich people to give their money to others (like the writer!), and not because they have the slightest notion of how God actually decides who is to enter heaven, and who is not.
I don't pop into AB much now but Dave suggested I look at this post.
Not a close friend but I know Richard. He's a very generous doer and giver of his time.
If I needed help with a charity fund raiser he'd never say no and always go further than I asked.
My Desert Island Discs evenings for Save the Children needed victims and Richard was one of the best. No problem selling tickets as folk knew it'd be an interesting event with his life story and chosen music.

It was heartbreaking when he lost his husband but he still had so much time for others.

I wish him well and happiness in his new life and I know he'll continue to give his time and care to others.
Just had a thought, Hymie. If Richard hasn't moved when I go back to the UK I can ask him if he's read Matthew 19.24 and is he worried and get back to you. ;-)
I have only met Mr Coles briefly, but do know of his considerable generosity of spirit/time/money when supporting charitable causes.

Whilst I have little or no time for Christianity (with a capital 'C'), I have a lot of time for people who embody christian (with a small 'c') virtues and would place Mr Coles in that group.

The fact that he has enough money himself for a comfortable retirement is to be applauded - many people in the business where he made his pension pot simply sniff their wealth away - I wish him well in his new home.
No wonder goodlife and their ilk
get their knickers in a twist over news like this!

I might even still be a Christian if it wasnt
for the shear hypocrisy.
It sickens me..

What hypocrisy has Mr Cole’s shown Nailit?
What sickens you?
I only realised this weekend that he used to be a member of The Communards x
Red & Tills,
Its in the title of Hymie's OP.
No nailit don’t use someone else’s words tell us what sickens you about a man working all his life, been successful in 3 careers and have a pension?
What? The Reverend?

//No nailit don’t use someone else’s words tell us what sickens you about a man working all his life, been successful in 3 careers and have a pension? //

Nothing whatsoever,
Just dont use the Bible to justify it.
Because you cant!
I can give you a hundred bible verses why you cant.
//tell us what sickens you about a man working all his life, been successful in 3 careers//
His first two careers, no problem, enjoyed his music back in the day.
His career as an anglican priest who preaches to others about the widows coin parable while living in a million (or there abouts) home seems just a little off!
Nailit, some of us can't help living in a near-million pound home, thanks to the disgusting acceptance that property inflation is acceptable and even desirable (see Daily Mail).
Must cost him a bit to heat it as well

Meanwhile,
us atheists and unbelievers are f8888ckin *** cold
