Why?
Khandro, no I don't live in 'some sort of bubble of insularity'

I've asked a simple question on how Relativism affects your daily life (Covid or non covid situation).

I'm beginning to think this is just another one of your crazy hobby horses in which you claim the world is going to rack and ruin (federal armies etc etc) but really, for all your fine words, it's just your own perception of the world. Which is quite often, a little less than 'mainstream'.
Because you've no business telling anyone to leave their church and to take people with them, Theland. That, once again, assumes that you're right and everyone else is wrong about religion.

Zacs Do you only have views on subjects which directly effect your daily life? if so I suggest that that would be rather limiting.

Do you have views on say, abortion, foxhunting, or eugenics ?

If so please state what they are, and how they are effecting your daily life.

Khandro, you describe the situation as a morass. Surely describing something as such and taking the time to post a Q about it is affecting you, otherwise why the concern?
Was JK Rowling really "punished" I still see her books on sale everywhere and she is extremely wealthy from them. If thats a punishment then count me in! All that seems to have happened is that some people got angry at her for her views... but that has always happened it isnt new. Look at the people who tried to shut down monty python over life of brian in the 70s or the jerry springer opera in the 2000s.
To me, a dictatorship would be a regime whereby obedience to the boss(es) is achieved by force if necessary. To equate today's UK socoety with dictatorship is wrong; dictatorship is deliberate overstatement designed to whip up indignance and anger.
The use of force by minority groups is not dictatorship, but is more akin to terrorism in that it cannot rule society but can damage it by stirring up dissent and hatred.
(correction to my previous post)

Are you insane?
The Dictatorship of the Church had a good run though.
archie, yes, the church certainly used physical and mental violence to persuade people that they really did believe the stuff.
Khandro, I think you should take a step back and ask yourself the same question. To claim there's a morass of Relativism but then say that it doesn't affect your life is contradictory. Can't you see that simple anomaly in your approach to this, and many other aspects of modern life?
It is a morass. Its affecting every aspect of life.
Look how the State has interfered in the family, by the back door of education. Parents are struck dumb by legislation demanding that our kids are acknowledging the main points of other religions and cultures.
Guess what?
We, as a family want to decide that.
We don't want our kids and grandkids to be brainwashed by alien cultures!
WE should decide, if and when our kids need instruction.
WE should decide if it is necessary to have a whole month spent on black history.
WE should decide on maintaining a linear approach to history, or a politically correct smorgasbord of selected historical subjects.
WE should decide that our empire was on the whole good, not have it derailed by black activists.
Education children to the aspects of other religions isn't brainwashing by any stretch of the imagination.

You have as warped a view of the world as Khandro, Theland. You should start your own religion. Maybe?

I think he's OK with the one he's got, but instead of this obfuscating piffle, why don't you answer my question of 12:48?
Khandro, of course I have opinions on those subjects (I'm actually surprised that you in all seriousness want and an answer, i thought you we're merely trying to make a point). I don't feel the need to present any of them as society falling to pieces of worthy of a post on an internet 'forum' in another effort to portray mankind as essentially doomed.

I’ve no idea what that was supposed to link to. Was it some other post that demonstrates your skewed view of the world and the fact that you’re wasting your time on earth on some false threat to society?
I think that we should have a system of governance which excludes non-rational faith-based interference in people's private and public lives. USA tried by means of their written constitution to protect the early settlers from the religious persecution they had suffered in Europe; sadly, american christianity - a free-market capitalist private enterprise affair - threatens to pervert the US democratic ideal.
I think that children - like other humans - should be given by society the protection of human rights legislation, so that they can enjoy access to all the accumulated knowledge available, not just to a narrow view filtered by religious parents.
Theland's post of 16:15 shows what he doesn't want children to know about, that he thinks the brainwashing should all be on his side.
If everyone was like him the planet would be in even bigger trouble than it is. Lack of education leads to a lot of today's problems - lack of understanding of how the physical world works, lack of understanding of how the spiritual world works, lack of understanding of what the human race needs to do to protect itself and to stay human.
