I'm not against those working for charities being paid, bednobs - but I would object to my money being spent on the job in question.

Having worked for a national charity I know exactly where a lot of donation money went together with bequests of property and assets and it certainly wasn't where the donor had intended. Even when specific conditions were attached to the bequest these were ignored. Clever legal advice can get around an awful lot.

What if your local hospice decided it needed a diversity and inclusion person (in fact i can guarantee you they have a policy/strayegy already that was written by someone who was employed to do it) You unfortunately cant (unless you buy a specific thing) say where any money you are donating goes to

bednobs, If my local hospice decided it needed such a person, I would designate my donations and the results of my fund-raising to a specific area - even if that meant buying something specific.

Considering many say they have worked for charities I'm surprised at some of the ignorance here. I work for a charity, some of our larger funders would not give funds to an organisation who do not have sufficient Equality and Diversity staff and / or strategies in place. It is a required standard for many these days.
Not all charity funds come from the public either.

No, Corby. As I said, that is my opinion - but clearly they don’t agree. Similarly I consider the Lifeboat charity spending money on overseas projects to be a misappropriation of funds - likewise the National Trust spending on diversity projects. It seems to me that some major charities have lost sight of their original purpose and if they have money to spare like this they certainly don’t need mine.

Make sure the charities you contribute to , their overheads are less than 10% of gross - accts available from said charities commission

Personally, if I was in the market for such a role, I'd go for the same job at the Anthony Nolan Trust. Better pay and less hours.

The one at Chance to Sine would be appealing because of the cricket, but torn as the same opportunity at The Premier League involves football. The most lucrative one I've seen is within the Civil Service.

Forget Cyber, Fatima should focus on D&I.

D&I will be a key performance indicator measured by major funders and corporate supporters. This charity receives over £11m in income and spends more than £10.5m on feeding the hungry. Only 5 people are paid more than £60k pa, hardly excessive! Personally I feel happier in the knowledge that they have strong D&I principles.

over the years I have donated to various charities, I "reared" a black girl in Ethiopia for years but then I got word back to say the said girl had left the village and they no longer wanted my money, however for years now I donate to Sightsavers - I would like to think they are getting my money. Would they not be?
