Did my week's shopping this morning at my usual supermarket in Swindon.

I noticed that their toilet rolls and baked beans had been virtually cleared off the shelves.

Any connection, I wonder?

Short of paracetamol here . :-(
Been shopping in Morrisons' this morning and the shelves were full of everything including toilet rolls. An economist on tv yesterday said that this country stockpiled everything before brexit so there are supplies of everything. I think it took the stores unawares when idiots started buying in bulk. She also said that most paper goods are made in this country and we have plentiful supplies. Wouldn't touch pasta, ghastly stuff, so if anyone wants my ration then feel free to buy it.
"Any connection, I wonder?"

100%.

"so there are supplies of everything. "

They were for brexit not the corona virus. With two in one will we cope? (probably)
I had to go to 3 supermarkets just to get our normal supply of loo rolls. It was like armageddon.

People are behaving in an utterly selfish and stupid manner.
"I had to go to 3 supermarkets just to get our normal supply of loo rolls. It was like armageddon."

That is the problem isn't it. People panic buy which causes other people to panic buy. Then when you actually need loo roll because you've genuinely ran out of your usual supply and can't get any, when you do you'll get more than usual because the situation may happen again!

It is barmy. Totally barmy.
Well I bought one packet of 16 rolls (which was the only size available).

There was no dried pasta and hardly any tinned stuff and most of the freezers were empty - not a problem for me because I wasnt intending to buy any of those items.

I went to the butchers this morning and the chap there said it had been mental.

I'm in the lucky position of being able to drive to the next supermarket to acquire what I want. I pity those who are less mobile or who rely on public transport.

What IS wrong with people?
Just finished my online Tesco shop for delivery tomorrow - I *wanted* no more than a 4-pack of loo roll (one lasts me 10 days), but I can only have a 24-pack. Go figure.

Oh - my "10 days"? That goes down to 2 days per roll if I have a female guest. Women, eh? ;-)

Legs it...
I have just returned from doing my weekly shop and I am shocked.
It wont be coronavirus that kills me, but hunger!
The shelves were bare, even perishible food stuffs were not available.
What is going on???
What's going on is you want to get to your local happy shopper ;) I'm sure they've got stocks of tinned carrots just waiting to be bought!

Looking back, I wish I'd bought my baked beans online...

You sound like the grumpy caretaker at my school who came into the staffroom to say 'You women use far more toilet roll than then men, I don't know what you do with it', so we told him, in detail!
I can't understand the pasta thing, there's hardly any pasta at Tescos but the shelves of sauces are full. WHat are people putting on their pasta??? They look to have had a loo-roll delivery today, there's loads. Waitrose seemed to have almost everything yesterday.
Post of the day to wiltsman @ 15:16 :-)
I too have noticed the female/loo roll phenomenon.
Jars of pasta sauces are not available either Ive been told, or even pot noodles. Luckily I dont buy either.
No bleach or disinfectant either.
could be, ha ha
Look at this couple making money out of the situation. Scroll down to the story"We're Hustlers..." You won't be able to read the whole story unless you subscribe, but you'll get the gist of it. They are hitting all Costco stores in the area and stockpiling to sell on Amazon:

Apart from baked beans, the shelves are full around here. Surely it can't be a regional thing?
I guess all the panic buyers are also the 'self isolaters'!
Well I do wonder just how much loo roll people get through?
My household currently consists of 3 adults (2M 1F).
Between us we use approx 1 roll per week. So to get through a 14 day quarantine I would be more than happy with a four pack.
