Speciesism?

'Speciesism' is the idea that being human is a good enough reason for human animals to have greater moral rights than non-human animals. ...a prejudice or bias in favour of the interests of members of one's own species and against those of members of other species.

Having read with interest the post on killing 'rescue' dogs... and other non human animals I presume? Would you watch this documentary?

Regards survival - I differentiate as it is in me to protect my own, most especially my children for whom I'd lay down my life.

Would I save dog or baby? Depends on the situation. If the dog was running free then I would save the baby first. The dog might not be able to talk, read or write but it would have the inbuilt instincts of self preservation and make for the exit. The baby on the other hand also would also not be able to talk or read but unlike the dog it would not be able to find it's own way out of a dangerous situation and would have to be helped.If the dog was tied up I would then sadly have to leave it.

I would save the dog first, especially if it was MY dog and I'd go back for the child if there was time. I love kids, but I also love my dog who is with me 24/7 and makes me happy and, since I lost my parents, gives me a reason to get up in the mornings. Not that I have to explain myself btw.

I believe that no animal wants to die nor should it be bred for this purpose.
Nutritionally there is no need to kill and consume non human animals whether that be a cat or a pig.

Please enlighten me on why it is ok to kill animals that only wish to live the same as we do?

My moral choice? Would be to choose the being most in need.

My moral choice also allows me to forgo the cruelty that is killing and eating others to appease my taste buds.

You have no argument against my morals unless you too live a vegan lifestyle.

Lol. Veganism needs imagination. I didn't eat meat for years (nothing to do with morals) but I seriously would not know what to cook for a vegan.

I wish that nature were not what it is. I hate cruelty and wish that all life forms could co-exist. But wishing doesn't make it so. The lion will still eat the zebra no matter what I wished.
But what gets me the most is how ignorant vegans/vegetarians are about how there plant based foods are produced. Have you any idea how many life forms are killed in the production of your Weetabix?
Thousands of 'lives' are ground up in combine harvesters, everything from ground dwelling birds to insects, rats to rabbits, worms to shrews etc.
There's no such thing as a guilt free lunch.

So you've never cooked with fruit, veg, pulses, beans, grains, rice, soy, meat alternatives....?

And at the end of the day, the amount of time people spend on here I would hope they know what Google is?

Google meat free lasagne... many a good recipe that even the people on here should be able to do :)
