Or is your cat finding life difficult?
I can speak only for myself and my own particular circumstances by noting that there are at least three occasions when I (and my wife) have made the wrong decision - with the best of intentions - by prolonging our cats' suffering unnecessarily.

"...I actually saw her being born."
...And if you do the right thing, you'll see her pass on.
I hope this comes across as caring, but the written word can be misinterpreted - believe me when I say it isn't meant to make you feel bad...
...You're being - naturally - selfish, you don't want to lose a member of your family & are hanging on to every scrap of "what if?" you can. Stop. Think. Use your head, not your heart.
It hurts like a sonofabitch, but you should walk from the vet's with your head held high knowing you've done right by your friend. x

Faced the same sort of dilemma a few years back when my cross breed dog, Molly, was so obviously in pain. She had been my faithful companion for 15 years and i just did not want to let her go. I did ask the vet if there was anything she could prescribe which would ease Molly's pain. The vet told me that my poor dog was riddled with arthritis and had also fallen victim to a disease older unspayed dogs can get which had affected internal organs. She advised me to let her go, which i did. About 18 months later, i got another dog, a Jack Russell. And, while Molly will always occupy a place in my heart, there is plenty of room there for Milo. Do the right thing for your beloved pet, Smow.
Sorry you are going through this, most of us know how heartbreaking it is. What I don't get from your other thread is what has the vet actually said - just go home and let her starve to death? Surely not, the diagnosis isn't even confirmed is it? I'm sure you are doing this but not posting about it but if it were me I'd be on the phone to vets until something was done.
