This labour peer thinks so and I agree with him.

Than add compulsory insurance and fines to the list too.

These self centred cyclists and lycra louts need putting in their place.

Disagree. If they have number plates surely they should be paying tax and insurance? This will be a turn off for those wanting to find more economical and healthy ways to travel.
Then what about kids on push bikes?
Yes. I agree with that. I believe the Dutch are registered or were. Get the adult cyclists off the footway as well. A menace.
The dutch do not have number plates on their push bikes.

"If they have number plates surely they should be paying tax and insurance? "

Do you not read my questions?

Yes they should have insurance, unreality many will through household insurance. As for tax they are zero emission so it's a big fat £0.00 pa

"Then what about kids on push bikes?"

And? If out on a public place they should have insurance. Again in many cases it is already there. See above.

Forgot one thing. If on the road should have an MOT too.
I deffo disagree then.
Question Author
Fair enough. So when a cyclist hits you parked car and you loose your no claims discount then you will be all smiles then?
Disagree.

I went everywhere on my bike. How was I suppose to pay tax and insurance at the age of 8?
Ymb does that happen often does it?

Anyone could damage my car when its parked nut a cyclist imo is least likely than say.. a passer by with a key.
If you saw the cost of fatal accidents you might consider that irresponsible cyclists should be answerable. When you see a £million + for each FATACC then there certainly should be insurance for cyclists.
As usual it is the few idiots who spoil it for others. A compulsory cycling proficiency test should passed as well.

You dont ummm, see my answer above.

And besides the roads a re a little different to what they were.

Just out of interest, if you had caused damage or an accident do you think it was OK for the Motorist or third party to be out of pocket?

Good Lord man, I gave one example. Think out the box a bit.

"Anyone could damage my car when its parked"

If you spout some of the rubbish you regurgitate on here around your gaffe I should imagine that is a continual occupational hazard for you.
i like dashing number plates
Young, I was knocked off my bike by a parked van. He opened his door without checking his mirrors. I was thrown onto the lane of on coming traffic. Luckily there wasn't traffic! I was just bruised but it could have been so much worse.

So many people moan about obesity yet they want them to stop riding bikes and getting regular exercise. Doesn't make sense to me.
I don't want to stop people riding push bikes. I want people top stop riding push bikes like total numpties.
That would be handy. I live in a quiet area so have never really witnessed it.
Nobody is stopping cyclists. Just regulating them. My headmaster would not allow anyone to ride their bikes to school unless they had passed the National Cycling Proficiency certificate. If you want to keep obesity at bay then buy a exercise bike or pay to use the highway as everyone else does.
In the case of your cycling accident there is a specific law of 'opening a car door to the danger of other road users' and the driver is traceable by virtue of the registration plate.
If a cyclist caused damage or injury and fails to stop then at present there is no registration plate to assist in tracing the offender.
"This will be a turn off"

Another excellent reason.
