The government have announced that every year from now on, on the anniversaries of the arrival of the good ship Windrush, we shall all collectively celebrate our good fortune and remember these first immigrants from the West Indies, and the enormous contributions they and their descendants have made to our otherwise miserable lacklustre society.

Now we have diversity, black on black knife and gun crime, and of course Rap music, as well as an abundance of youth workers and community workers, and no end of black advisors telling us how racist we are, how we enjoy our ill gotten white privilege.

So I just want to wish everybody a very happy Windrush.

It's early days yet, so Km not too sure how we are supposed to celebrate, but if it is made into a national holiday, the I suppose few will complain.

Would the next ethnic grouping requiring a national celebration please submit your application please?

Okay, Theland, I get what you are saying ... or at least I think I do. So yes, it doesn't seem acceptable any more to celebrate what the likes of Churchill did for our Country because he was an upper class white man. But we MUST celebrate the Windrush Generation, Muslims, bi-sexual / gay / transgender ... So long as you are not white, working / middle class...

Hampered me? Well worked 12 hours a day and nights seven days a week for years and years. Don't have a passport, never had a holiday, spent all my efforts on my family who are my life's work.
Did it all myself, never got a leg up or help for any body. My kids never had a youth worker or money spent on them to make sure they did not drift into crime. We paid into the system and got nothing out. And do you know how proud I am of that?
You sound like the typical black man with a chip on your shoulder. No surprise there.
