Ahhhh, those were the days, eh?
Birdie //Do you really think that the Grenfell victims are the moral equivalents of those service men and women who died defending UK sovereign soil from illegal Argentinian invading forces? Really? //

I don't consider a soldier's life more valuable than a civilians, nor a civilian's more valuable than that of a soldier. All life is equally important to the 'occupant' of that life- for sure there are people who die heroically, people who sacrifice themselves to save others and that is absolutely laudable, however you can't say that a 6 year old child's life, who died in a terrible accident quite potentially caused, or at least exaccerbated, by negligence has less value than an adult who signed up to be in the army and fully understood the risks they were taking, that is frankly absurd. As I said the two things are entirely separate and we should not seek to muddy the two together for fear of not adequately respecting either quarter.
i love katie ...she has balls !!! more balls than many of our MPs who bend over backwards to appease islamic extremists
ZM - “Seeking out a Katie Hopkins video on YouTube is, in itself, worthy of ridicule.”

Really?
And this would be because...?

From your statement I can only conclude that you're not a free speech advocate and that you think that people with whom you disagree are worthy of ridicule.

How very tolerant. How very understanding. How very progressive of you.
Kvalidir - “I don't consider a soldier's life more valuable than a civilians...”

Of course you don't. Because you and others like you who express the same sentiment are – at heart – cowards. You dare not put a soldiers life 'above' yours because you like to cling to the illusion that you're equals. But you're not.

A soldier puts his personal safety at risk to defend the nation and to defend those less capable than himself. He makes a solemn oath to die trying to save the lives of others – military or civilian. He puts his life on the line everyday. You don't. You rely on those brave men and women to protect you. And when they do, you think it appropriate to berate them and diminish their roles and actions and relegate them to the likes of the common man. How dare you?

We clearly differ in our outlook and opinions about our emergency services.

A soldier (or paramedic, fire fighter, police officer, etc.) has made a conscious choice to put themselves in harm's way to protect and/or save the lives of ordinary people. Civilian's haven't. Many civilians may well be brave and strong but they haven’t taken that selfless oath to protect others over their own self interests.
