How moving this is, already only 15 mins into the programme. I was moved to tears by the brave young girl sea cadet reading a poem about her father who died in a submarine when she was 6 yrs old. She walked onto the stage with her brothers while Alfie Boe and Michael Ball were singing. A really touching moment came when Michael turned to give her a lovely reassuring smile between the verses of "you'll never walk alone".

My great Uncle died on 14 July 1916 in the Battle of the Somme. I only discovered this recently while doing our family history. I wish we had a photo of him.
Trish and I watch it every year,I don't know why because, and I'm not ashamed to admit it,we both get a bit emotional by the end of it.
We're sitting here snivelling away too. Yes, I noticed Michael turn and smile at the little girl, lovely gesture.
Yes, very emotional and always well handled.

In all the years I have watched this remembrance service I think this is the best one yet.... everything so appropriate and very moving. Wait for the poppies to fall ....
Not been watching but"She who must be obeyed" is. She says that the young lady who sang "Abide With Me" was very moving. Glad I missed it. Would have been a bit emo as that was my Dad's and his own Dad's hymn of choice.
It's The Last Post that gets me, I'm straight back at Dad's graveside as his Batman played it - the way those Poppies descend is truly beautiful.
Comin in on a wing and a prayer, man who would have been my father in law didn't make it
He was shot down before he knew going to be a father
We visited his grave with those of his crew mates in Belgium
So very moving, all of it....
Ann, if you Google ww1 military records, there are many sources of info. You might find a photo on there.
I love when all those Poppy petals fall from the ceiling, representing every life lost. Very moving.
Yes it was very poignant and moving all the stories heart wrenching and tragic and the tributes, singing readings were beautiful perfect remembrance.
I found it very moving too. It was a very good programme tonight.
