i am asking out of curiosity why people get involve in football hooligans as most of them are your typical teenage scally wags, most of em are old men in there 40s 50s and even 60s (well most of the old ones are mainly leaders and organizers)

Eh?
I hear very little about football hooliganism these days.
What is your source Lindsey? Why do you think people are getting involved?
Whew !

That lets me out - I'm in my 70s.
which are they, teenagers or "old men" in their 40s etc.?
I remember when the whole 'casuals' thing came about and a lot of them were city types who spent the week in suits and ties and high powered jobs then at the weekends they were out fighting. I read something about it that suggested the possibility that these were men who lived very buttoned down lives during the week with very stressful jobs and there was an attraction to doing something more 'primitive'. It could all have been a lot of rubbish mind you...

ha ha ha soz about that i meant their not jst teenagers at it and football firms are still very much alive but it is not reported as much and completely ball game these days
Question Author
that is another thing what gets me too, most of em are loving family men with respected jobs like being a teacher or even a doctor
"completely ball game these days"... ?
Those who were at it in the 80s are now 30 years older. Can't say I'm aware of 'firms'. Which clubs in the English leagues have them? Cardiff may have but, whoever has them, they are singularly bad at getting themselves into the papers !
Lindsey you are not making much sense to me I' afraid, but I remember the hooliganism of the 80s and it just doesn't exist any more.
Where are you getting your information from?
Was there a recent film about a resurgence of football violence?
"with respected jobs like being a teacher or even a doctor"

Lol. Do you have a link to this?

its completely different from the 1980s these days because the firms are more organised and the fights are away from the stadiums.
old men in there 40s 50s and even 60s

dont forget wags & mothers, grans 20 - 80+ zimmer frames and all.

as a old friend of the family told me, just because that guy is in his 60s it dosent mean he cant still have a row and besides being in your 60s is not even old.

he knew a guy who was about 65 years old who is a nasty old bastard, he put two bodybuiders aged 20s or 30s in hospital in a street fight.

but when i say old men in their 40s etc that is cos its old compared to me.
I'm guessing the 10 refers to your age Lindsey, is that a girls name by the way?

are you trying to be funny baldric? i only asked this question out of curiosity
How?

You get (or used to get invited) I have been invited to many a discussion with the opposing fans after a game.

Why?

No friggin idea, although I'm no shrinking violet..........I always declined the offer.
Where is your evidence of firms having fights away from the stadiums? I'm a Chelsea fan and the only trouble I've ever known away from the stadium was about 4 years ago , in a pub in Fulham, but there was no evidence of organisation or planning or any 'firms'. It was just an impromptu brawl.

If these firms exist, it's surprising that lifelong soccer fans and the press are not aware of them. If you were describing the 80s, I'd be the first to agree with you. Back then, even Cambridge United had a firm; they once lured rival fans down a side street by saying it was the way to the station and murdered one of them
"but when i say old men in their 40s etc that is cos its old compared to me."

" and besides being in your 60s is not even old. "

What? 40 is "old" but 60 is not? Have I overdone the Chardonnay, or are you just really confusing?
