i doubt it, besides they have to have a trial first, believe that is how it works..
That article dates from 1989

oh yes it was abolished in 1995, my grandson has been asking me about the death penalty there, his school mates are all talking about it.
Why not? if the man is tried and found guilty of murder and sentenced to death under the laws of his country, then whats the difference between him and some black kid from one of the slums who is also sentenced to death. In fact you could argue that they would be more likely to hang him then leave themselves open to charges of bias in favour of a person who is not only white but know internationally.
gee. lets at least find out what happened before we judge..
paddy, they don't have the death penalty now, and yes let's wait.
He is up in court tomorrow, which is very quick.
Didn't know they'd abolished the death penalty but the point I'm making is that if he's tried and found guilty he shouldn't expect any special treatment.
Why should Oscar be any different?
i doubt if he will get special treatment, they have certainly pushed him in to court double quick, normally it takes a while..
Is it very quick? So far he's only been charged and is to appear in the local magistrates' court. That's probably standard procedure, derived from the practice in English courts. Where the delay sets in may be in the time it takes to get him front of a jury. Years ago, we had cases which took more than a year to get to trial here, having been committed from the magistrates' court.
wow djhawkes! good idea for a thread ,no people or family hurt by that!
Sounds like he hasn't got a leg to stand on.
Hilarious, Dave!!
