they are fighting a battle they cannot win, train the Afghani soldiers, policemen, there is no way of knowing if they are infiltrators, only answer would be to come home now.
It is interesting to compare two recent news stories"..

The Daily Telegraph headline screams

" Two British Soldiers killed by Afghan POLICEMAN "

http://www.telegraph....Afghan-policeman.html

Of course he was not a policeman, he was Taleban dressed as a policeman.

Now compare that with the attack on Camp Bastion by people in US uniforms. It was never suggested they were US soldiers. Even though Taleban dressing as friendly allies tricked the British, the headline didn't read:

" Four British Soldiers killed by US SOLDIERS "

OK, you may ask why does the different reporting matter? It matters because in the report about the "policeman" the reader is left feeling the Afghan Police and the greater Afghan population cannot be trusted. And the response from the British public can be guaged by the removed answer above.
When the Taleban dress as US soldiers, little is made of it and it isn't in the headline. And no inference is made that because of this incident all genuine US Soldiers cannt be trusted.

Hiding Double standards. But that is how this war has been presented from the beginning.
It will keep on happening as long as they would be under the illusion for themselves and a lie to the people back home goes on that "We are winning the battle".
I suppose that depends on what you as "the battle".

Personally I would bring every last one of them home alive. Today. I cannot see why we are wasting young British lives on this.
The only reason we're still there is because our politicians do not know how to get us out without it looking like a humiliating withdrawal, as happened to the USSR not so many years ago.
I'd rather abject humiliation than a single further lost British life.

Left feeling that the Afghan Police and the greater Afghan population cannot be trusted, LOL, LOL, LOL.

I have news for you Gromit, 'NO' they cannot be trusted since every Afghan Policeman, Soldier or civilian is a potential Taliban terrorist, and it has proven to be so.

Would you also like to pick the so called 'moderate' Muslim out of those hordes who are now violently demonstrating across the Muslim world?
AOG

Do you know what th Taleban actually are?

I ask because you wrote:

"every Afghan Policeman, Soldier or civilian is a potential Taliban terrorist, and it has proven to be so".

Please tell me that was at least, a little but tongue in cheek, because reminds me of that old 1970s warcry - "All men are potential rapists".

And by the way - it will be pretty difficult to pick moderate Muslims from those protests through the Middle East...

...and you know why?

Because they're moderates!!!

I thought the fact that they are moderates speaks for itself.

Unless I'm missing the point???
So sad, so very, very sad ...... and they were trying to help him !!!!

You ask a number of questions that have no answers, but please answer me this, and you need only to answer either 'YES' or 'NO'.

If you were out in Afghanistan or even amongst those baying mobs, would you like the job of choosing who is your 'FRIEND' or who is your 'FOE'

You know my answer, now give me yours, simply 'YES' or 'NO', nothing more.
Yes.

I would LOVE the job of choosing who trust amongst the baying mob you just referred to.

Because the answer would always be the same, summarised thus:

Anyone waving a burning American flag, screaming "death to the infidels", is very likely NOT to Bea moderate.

It would LITERALLY be the easiest job in the Middle East.

I'd only have to work one day a week and then spend the rest of the time getting drun....

Oh hang on...you can't drink in Muslim states, can you?

Oh well...
sp1814

You only answered half the question.

But regarding the 'Moderates', are we then to assume that judging by the baying mobs throughout the Muslim World that we have seen pictures of, the 'Moderates' are very much in the minority?
AOG,

So you agree that anyone dressed as a US Soldier in Afghanistan is a threat to British soldiers. If your answer is not 'yes' then I fear you didn't understand my post.
Gromit

/// So you agree that anyone dressed as a US Soldier in Afghanistan is a threat to British soldiers. ///

My answer is 'NO' and yes I do not understand your post.

Enough to say that anyone of Afghanistan appearance, but dressed in a US uniform would be a potential threat, not only to British soldiers but to the rest of the NATO troops.
Cheers AOG.
I agree Duncer, because the people we are fighting don't wear uniforms, the only way to tell if they are the enemy, is if they shoot first. An impossile situation.

I've said before, the only way to win a 'Terrorist' war, is if you have the active support of the population of that country. We don't have that, nor ever will.

Better to pull out, than to continue to waste our Squaddies lives for nothing.
I've yet to work out why Afghanistan is our enemy at all but maybe that's just me. *shrug*
