On the front page of The Times last Thursday there was a picture of the Queen and Kate hugely enjoying some joke. To my astonishment I noticed that the Queen's left glove was all chewed up and shredded at the fingers end. There was no explanation for this anywhere in the newspaper. Did any other medium explain it?

corgis would be my guess
chakka.

that is very observant of you.

my hypothesis is that she had had them for many years, and it is just wear & tear .. she refuses to have a new pair, as she likes those ones
I can't see that being the reason, she is a stickler for going out correctly dressed. her ladies in waiting wouldn't let her go out with shredded gloves, surely?
she was on her way out the door, discovered glove missing from table, took it off corgi and rushed out
can i get a "hell yeah" from the dog owners among us?

That's the picture I saw - admittedly the left hand fingers are in shadow and look a bit battered, but I think that's an optical illusion - there's no suggestion that the gloves are frayed.

You're quite right, woofgang. With the higher definition here than there was in the press version I can now see that what looked like shredding was the end-on shape of the seams. My wife was fooled too.

Sorry to have started that hare. Forgive me and forget it.

I can't forgive you Chakka. You've besmirched the reputation of the royal gloves.
