Space shuttle Endeavour

Endeavour is how we spell it in the UK, whilst in US it would be spelt Endeavor. So why is the US space shuttle written in the English (UK) way?

is this a baby a boy or a girl?

is london a bit like america in the way it seems to forget there are other places...?

yes I asked this last week, it's named after an English ship.

As they failed miserably at speaking the language maybe they thought that if they tried to spell English correctly they may have a better chance at pronouncing it it correctly.
