Husband spent yesterday evening tapping away on his laptop, credit card clutched in hand. 'Just booked our holiday' he says. ' Great!' I say. 'Villa, south of France, own pool, overlooking market town where I can buy fresh bread, cheese and wine?' 'Er, no' he replies.'Farm in Devon, but it does have a petting zoo and we can take the dogs.'

Lolol, where in Devon? some nice places here!! not exactly south of France though!

So he actually booked a holiday without even discussing it with you? Oh dear!
and south of France would probably have been cheaper!
Killing you now would mean he'd lose his deposit...

Hi Ratter, yes £500+ for a week! And the cats still need looking after here! Think it's near the middle of nowhere, 25 minutes from the sea (I like snorkling so it's a bit of a trek!) and it's my birthday then too, and it will probably rain and we'll argue. Good times!

Hi, Boxtops! Serve him right!
On the bright side, then you are going to a fantastic part of the country for diving and snorkelling.
Question Author
Hi, Chuck. Might drown, got stuck under a rock once!

And I'm sure it will be far better snorkeling in sunny Devon that the Mediterranean.

Im not saying our seas are polluted but you don't swim in our seas, you just go through the motions.

:-)
Wheaten you have my sympathies, poor you, hopefully when you get there it will be a nice surprise.
I have a problem taking my dogs on hols because one is a "runner" and what "enclosed garden" means for me - somewhere where your dog cannot possibly get out- isnt always what the brochure means by enclosed garden.

lol, it has a 'child friendly courtyard with play area and bbq pit'. Off to buy new snorkel/flipper set now and spend the week in the sea!

Why poor you? You're going to a beautiful part of the country! And better yet, its not full of French people (heh!)

Be grateful you're at least getting a holiday this year, many aren't, but make sure you slap the husband for not consulting you, a big no no!
"child friendly courtyard with play area and bbq pit"

BBQing your child doesn't sound very child friendly!
I would actually like to go to a farm in devon, but I can imagine your dissapointment if you were hoping for a villa in France. My husband has only booked a holiday without consulting me 3 times, our honeymoon, 15th and 25th anniversary but they were all nice romantic surprises.
wow I cant believe the gall he had to book a holiday without discussing the options with you first
Question Author
Hi, Boo, husband still asleep so I have slapped him and and will blame it on the dogs. Hardly a holiday, it's only 3 hours drive from the house and I still have to stay with hubby! Should be kicking my heels up somewhere exotic, like London!
Wheaten
Amazing. Is it a shared space or a nice cottage out in the middle of nowhere? If it is the latter you might be in for a nice surprise.

All the best,

Spare
lol, you think London is exotic??!

Hi, Ratty, doubt I'll make it to our 15th, barely made it through the Honeymoon!
I'd take Devon over London any day!
