Havn't a clue what section this shud be in but I know I will get hopefully a few helpful answers here. My daughter is 10 tears old tomorrow and we were going to take 12 children to a roller disco for the evening. However we are totally snowed in and as such only 8 people can come round for a birthday tea. We would like to play some games that wud be suitable for 10 yr olds (girl n boy mix) for an hour or two so she feels like she has had a fun evening. Thanks for any suggestions you can give.

My kids are adults now but I never joined the trend of heading off to the pool, McD's or whatever and always had old fashioned parties at home with pass the parcel, pin the tail and dropping dried beans from nose height into jars on the floor. It was great fun, reminded me of my own childhood parties and because I was the only parent doing this the other parents asked what I did because their kids always came home full of praises.

I finished off the party eats with a make your own dessert - ice cream, tinned fruit, sprinkles, sauces etc. Messy and watch the over greedy ones but more fun!

And you will need a long sit down afterwards....
pin the tail on the donkey
blind man's bluff
hunt the thimble
statues
al of which you can play even if the power goes off cos of the cut back in fuel
don't forget "hie the thimble" and "blind man's bluff"
Mummies - where you have to wrap them up in toilet paper
pass the balloon
balloon keepy uppy
corners - if you have enough room
charades
sardines
