When you've just finished work on a freezing friday night, and you step into your favourite pub to find your friends are already there, and you know you're going to have a good time ! Oh I can''t wait till tomorrow !
When I'm out in the country with the dog and it starts to rain - there's that point at which think sod it and give up trying to stay dry . You get funny looks from folks sheltering as you slop by but you know how good it's going to feel when you get home, get out of the wet clothes and crash by the fire.
My youngest daughter is fifteen, but she still likes to be tucked in at night. We have a ritual we have followed since she was a baby - she has her back rubbed, while she pushes her face as hard against me as she can, while I kneel down by the bed. The she has her face stroked gently, as she starts to drift off to sleep. This is the time I have always, and still do, hear about anything that is bothering her. I always feel this is a time when a parent feels closest to their child, and I'm lucky she still wants to do this, even past the age when her sisters stopped. In common with feeding her, bathing her, picking her up, tying her shoes, and all the other things that don't last for ever, I intend to make the most of this last piece of childhood for as long as i can. As soon as she decides she's too old, which will be any time now - that's it, she's finally a young woman. She will never be my little girl again, but she will always be my baby, and I have never regreeted a moment of these special times with all my children. It's what binds us together for ever.
sometimes waking up 10 minutes before the alarm, so I can really appreciate cuddling up to my wife before we have to get up for work.
travelling and visiting somewhere really amazing i've never been before.

Maximo, Jenky and stoo, you're all after my own heart! Here's one..lying in bed warm and snug listening to a storm rattling the windows on a winter's night!

Andy, don't get me wrong that sounds pretty good too, my ex girlfriend had 4 kids between 11 and 5, I used to get such a buzz when they asked me to help them with stuff or just do things like brushing out the girl's hair after hairwash night. Ooh! Funny thickness in the throat...guess I miss them more than their mother!

Oh God Andy .....sob,sob. That's lovely. My special times are with my granddaughter who's 3 and a half. In the morning we get up before the rest of the family and she's all soft and warm and still full of sleep and we just sit and chatter and after I've put on my make up she always tells me I look pretty. Today I've got to remember to take a poppy home for her. She's got me wrapped round her little finger.
Walking along the deserted beach at night, listening to the tide splashing upon the rocks, the different sparkling on the water.... sitting down to watch the sunset..... or rise,,,,,, to be at the busy road kerbside and your young grandchild lifts their hand to take yours, to walk past the church on a sunday, and  hear the singing from within...... stop at the local school, listen, watch the kids laughing and playing, enjoying themselves....... to stroll the woods during autumn, feel the fallen leaves beneath your feet, so many different colours, and yes, that big hug and kiss goodnight from your child,,,, to see the look upon a childs face as they open presents, to be there watching your son score his first try for the school rugby team, or score his first goal, my past maybe was to make money, and more money ! keeping up with the jones's perhaps, not anymore !  so many wonderful things/moments in time that are so precious, money can NEVER buy! and they are ALL FREE ! enjoy them all.

Sunday morning sudden wake up oh hell I'm going to be late for work.............hang on its Sunday! Back to my dream of me and Rachel Stevens on a desert island.
Whenever I hug my husband, and my 2-year-old son is around, he runs up in between our legs, hugs both of us, and says with a big satisfied sigh: "Family!"  I love that!  Also, sometimes when I am putting him to bed, and trying to rock him to sleep, he'll take hold of both my cheeks with his hands and pucker up - and just kiss and kiss.  And lately he's been grabbing my arm and hugging it, and saying "I love you." It's very sweet.
When my 6' son gives me a big hug and says 'Luv ya Mum'.
We posted at the same time zgma.  It's nice our sons both say the same thing, with 19 years separating them!

2nd row ....u've got it right on....I enjoy all of what u posted....especially the walk thru forest in autumn... as well as going to the beach, getting the kids set up with their playthings and then sitting back with a cup of tea and watching them playing, while breathing in the fresh sea air ....preferably in the late afternoon...not too hot....

Also listening to stories about what they learned in school and what their friends can do and who is great at drawing, running etc  Also going into their room on Saturday morning and seeing them read their comics in bed ....ah what memories....

Also love reading to them when in bed and then having a chat with them about anything that comes into thier heads just before the nod off to sleep.... as u say ...its free and cant be beaten .....

When my brother or sister ring up out of the blue to catch up... going for a walk in the rain and coming home to warm up in front of the fire... waking up and realising it's Saturday (roll on tomorrow!)... but mostly it's those special moments with my family that just can't be beaten

Andy Hughes you have made me cry.How fab are you??
Mine has to be that Friday afternoon feeling. I work in a stressful job, and dont really get to see my boyfriend during the week, but every friday afternoon he is at the door of my office bang on five o'clock to take me away from it all. That first cuddle when i leave the office on a friday gives me that gooey feeling, that i know im with the man i want to spend the rest of my life with. He'll be here in an hour and im counting down the minutes.

The warmest most amazing feeling I have ever experienced was when I witnessed the birth of our daughter. When she finally popped out I was overcome by the most incredible overwhelming indescribable feeling. The look on my face must have said it all because as soon as she was born the midwife forgot all about my wife & baby & asked me if I was all right!
