Others may disagree but I realised what a waste of time school was for any practical life skills and that any exams you took at school bear little relevance to life in a practical sense. I'm just plain lazy so when I was a school I didnt do to well and its never held me back (I'm now a senior I.T. analyst for a large firm). What I'm trying to say is that 99% of real world jobs have no relevance to your exams at least not at GCSE or A level. Any job that requires a science such as biology and chemistry will require a degree, history for example is next to useless. If you have a degree that may be a little different, but most people would have decided by them. The best way to decide on a job is to look at the things you do outside school and use that as a basis. Why not tell us what your grades are and what you do outside school and we maybe can suggest what you could do.
Just to clarify, I'm not saying education is a waste, stay in school kids, just that when your at school you think its a replication of real life. Its not and exams are really little benefit in a practical sense, I think degrees are a little better as they teach you about research and coping on your own. I sometimes wonder how life would be if I had done better at school but I must say I have good job earn plenty of money so it turned out pretty good all in all.
What gilf says is certainly one way of looking at it. You do need to look at what interests you. Also what you're good at at school. However, the better qualifications you have, the better the chance you have of getting where you want to go, quicker. Future employers will be more willing to take on someone with better qualifications and has shown they are willing to work hard. Also those who have taken some kind of initiative in their own future. You should have a look at UCAS's own site. http://www.ucas.ac.uk/ There is a lot to see here but if you look at "Courses", most paticular ones will give you a profile on why it would be suitable for you, and what qualifications you would need. Best of luck.
you could try doing one of the career assessmen t tests-a bit more involved than typing in your results, but sometimes interesting. Jig-Cal is one of the most used
I've found as an employer over the years (albeit in different occupations) generally if an applicant has some sort of qualifications, this is good because it tells me he/she has the capacity to learn.I stress that I'm not talking about specialisation.
I didnt say once that you don't need exam's. My point was that the content of exams has little relevance to actual jobs. Of course its good to get all A's and that will help you get a job but that will have no real relevance to what job you can get, for example A level law will not get you a job as a lawyer. Some jobs have entry requirements such as 5 grade A - C GCSE's but it doesn't generally matter which subjects they are in.
post your results on here and we'll give you a few suggestions (some may be serious ones too :-)
