Wait for the bus to Matlock.
Peter probably means the Opera House. Do go and see that, if you can. Next door are the gardens - quite nice in summer.

Buxton also has a museum, which is vaguely interesting - lots of local finds.

If you like architecture, there is the Crescent, reminiscent of the famous crescent in Bath (forgotten its name). Buxton also has (I believe) what was at the time the widest domed roof in the UK. It's now part of Derby University.

There is Pooles Cavern on the outskirts, quite interesting.

The shops aren't very good.
On a weekend there is usually an antique/book/toy fair, think it's usually in the paxton or the octagon, but if you go to the Pavillion Gardens you will find it.Across from the gardens is the Serpentines (grass and the river)
If you're a walker you could go to Solomons Temple or Corbar Cross.

Thanks everyone - went today with my partner for a mosey about. Had a lovely day, lots of good charity shops and we went to a nice little teashpo for lunch. Will certainly go back.
