Are indigestion and heartburn the same thing? I have just started getting sharp pain in the region of my diaphragm and I have tried a couple of branded indigestion relief tablets to no avail. Any recommendation's please ? Sometimes the pain comes after I have eaten ,sometimes not, there is no pattern. Often it goes quite quickly without medication, however a couple of times it has doubled me up and I would like to have some relief, any suggestions appreciated.

heartburn is a symptom of indigestion, it sounds quite bad i would see your gp x x
It could be acid reflux, thats really painful. Have you tried some of the tablets you can get at the chemist that reduce stomach acid (zantac springs to mind) rather then treating the symptoms of indigestion afterwards.

In either case, it would be worth seeing the doctor incase it is something more serious like a stomach ulcer.
Try drinking some milk. Works for me.
