Oh you poor thing I do sympathise ...... I really think there is nothing much you can do except get some big fat pillows and sleep almost sitting up ... it might settle further into the pregnancy.

Milk - stick to Skimmed though or you will end up huge!!!!

I used to drink 4 pints of it a night!!!!!

Oh God, I remember that vividly, your poor thing! I found the only thing thay would help were the Gaviscon tablets, can get them anywhere.

Milk sometimes helped too, avoid pastries!!!

I was the same as girlygirl, and would drink loads of milk. You can sometimes work out which things make your heartburn worse and try to avoid them. I found chocolate was really bad. Good luck.x

Boobesque, congratulations again on your pregnancy, I hope you go all the way!

Can I just say that although it isn't pregnancy related, my husband suffers greatly from acid indigestion and is now on permanant medication from the doctor for it. Whilst I know that you can't have this and that it will pass I remember that one of things that really helped him before his medication was being dairy free and following a really really low fat high protein diet. Any dairy of any kind, while stilling the symptoms temporarily made the problem much worse later on due to the fat content of the dairy products. Dairy makes you produce more mucus and more stomach acid so in order to reduce the acid in the stomach, reduce or cut out your dairy and stick to non acidic food such as tomatoes, citris fruit, chocolate etc etc. Eat bland, low fat high protein food, such as chicken, rice, jacket potatoes, veg (provided low acid content) pasta etc.....

Also eat small amounts very frequently and try not to bend over or lie down immediately after eating. Try to remain as still and up right as you can and drink lots of water. i know how hard this must be for you as you are caring for you son, but it might help.

Wishing you well, dearest,
love

<jumps up and down with excitement>

Can I be his or her cyber Auntie? please please please????

you may get stronger stuff from your doctor boobesque. I take zoton, but I'm not sure if it's recommended during pregnancy. Why not ask your GP? Good luck!
i found anything citrus had me up all hours with this when i was preggers, its more common in pregnancy due to everything getting pushed about and squashed, eat little and often, chew food loads, lots of water, i also found extra strong mints a help, sucked one after i ate and it stopped it getting bad, try not to eat till stuffed as this can bring it on, dont drink cold drinks when eating if you can or just have sips, hope this helps its horrible i know, good luck with everything and keep us updated x

well jno, i have thought of docs, have an appointment in ...... 3 weeks! will see what he can do

coojy, havent tried mints yet, will give i a go!

boo, of course you can, and by the way, i have been a good girl, no pastries for me, dont want to put on all the weight i lost pre-baby, have put on 7lb in 18 weeks, but then my appetite has been almost nothing, i have had to make myself eat sometimes!

I was the same, gaviscon made me gag almost to point of throwing up. Speak to your midwife, have you tried the gaviscon cool? Some of the indigestion tablets are ok to take but some arent so always check packets. Rennie Rapeze i think was the one i ate constantly.

Also, cold drinks, the best being a McDs milkshake! Although towards the end of pregnancy it made him squirm a lot.

Best of luck with rest of your pregnancy.

Girlygirl...me too! I used to drink milk all evening and into the night, as I got really bad heartburn, and don't like any of the shop bought remedies. Pints and pnts of full fat milk it was too. You're right about the weight gain...I went from 9stone pre pregnancy up to 14st pre birth, and then back to 9 again. lol I was a massive blimp of a mum-to-be. Having said that, my son had a full set of perfect, white straight teeth by 19months old and if he doesn't have good strong bones after all th milk mummy drank......lol
