my neighbours dog used to bark at all hours so i paid him a visit and told him i was an ex con who did time for storing body parts in my freezer, the doctors reckoned it was brought on by sleep deprivation, never barked again.

The asbo crew at the top of the street were moved there by the council, they stepped out of line once and I found myself screaming at them in the street at 2am and threatening to get them evicted again unless they took their family rows out of my street! NOT HEARD A WORD FROM THEM SINCE, I AM QUITE FRIGHTENING WHEN MY SLEEP IS INTERRUPTED TAKE NOTE!
Try knocking them up very early in the morning - around 6am.

Bang loudly so the children are awake. When they answer the door ask them ever so nicely to keep the noise down at night as you need to go to bed early.

Do this every morning. They'll soon get fed up.

Good luck.

Yes unfortunately I have had the pleasure of nuisance neighbours. I rent from a Housing Association, had a very nice house, but in a not so very nice area. Various people on the estate were known for drugs, crime etc. Anyway, my immediate neighbours were a mum and her two rather wayward kids. They would be up to all hours, out in the garden, kicking the ball against the fence, using my garden as their rubbish bin. The mum had a boyfriend who liked to play electric guitar, unfortunately for me, he liked to play his guitar at 1 or 2 oclock in the morning, or they would have very very loud arguments and she would shout in the garden that he was hitting her (not very nice obviously and a coupleof times I called the police out of concern for her safety) . After numerous complaints to the Housing Association and told to "keep a diary" of behaviour or that " they were looking into it", the Housing Officer would just come round and nod sympathetically but we all know without a court order there was very little that could be done. It wasnt just me who complained, several residents on the estate did, but as I was the only directly next door, I got the worst of it. Anyway the Housing Associations solution was to move four of the worst effected families including myself and my kids, to houses over the otherside of town, thereby costing me money in moving fees and the like, because the legal process to evict problem tenants is so slow. I did hear that eventually the family was evicted. I just think it beggars belief that so many people have to suffer because of one inconsiderate family and to top it all, if you want my opinion, as long as the rent is coming in , the Housing Association's (or the Council) interestd is limited!!

A friend of mine had the same problem and so he downloaded a load of noises from the internet like police sirens, people making hard love, gunfire, explosions, famous sayings from films, screeches of tyres, revving of engines, bottles smashing etc.

Before he left for work at 7:30 he set his alarm on his stereo for 9am and turned up the volume and left the CD on repeat to go off at 12 noon and then back on at 1:30pm till 3:30pm.

Within a few days they stopped and he stopped..... end of game!

as wilson says try very loud noise, at times that will p' them off. make sure you sound your horn when leaving for work in the morning, put your speakers against the wall buy a timer plug for your stereo, get your neighbours to help with the general day to day noise.maybe get a rota going so you all do your bit and they won't know who to blame.

let us know how you got on.

Me and a friend had incredibly noisy neighbours living in the house between us. Once the noise got to a certain level we would ring each other up and then both ring the police, several times, until they came and got them to quiet down. However, they would start up again as soon as the police left. As the house was privately rented, we also went to the estate agent and made lots of complaints. He kept saying he'd do something but he never did, until I found out on the internet who owned the house. We then told him we knew who the owners were, and if he didn't move the tenants somewhere else, we would contact the owners and tell them he was letting the tenants trash their property. Next day, he brought some heavies round, who sat in their house and waited while they packed up all their stuff and moved into a property elsewhere. I'm sure it was illegal for him to do this, but we weren't complaining!!
