In Ireland, when you get married in a registry office, you have to post the notice three months prior. If not previously divorced, the man is listed as a bachelor, the woman as a spinster. I know it means 'single woman', but you wouldn't believe the fun I had those three months. The slagging I gave her!
Anything past 30 I'd say.
I'd say about 25.
When I got married 2 years ago, I was classed as a Spinster and I was only 21!!!!
I used to work with a lady in her 50s who was a spinster and she used to say "There's nothing wrong with being left on the shelf, as long as you're taken down regularly and dusted" Still makes me smile!

About 95 I would think. Most elderly single women just don't act like the old fashioned stereotype of spinsters any more and have a great style. Wise women!

Hard question to answer really, as what is the conventional age for marriage? (see the dictionary definition). Since I'm 34 and single, I'd best start spinning and wear some frumpy granny clothes ;-)

When I was about 10 I had to fill in a form at the post office to open a savings account - you had to tick whether you were a spinster and I have giggled about this ever since whenever I hear the word.
Being logical here, if you cannot marry legally until you are sixteen, then this must be the age at which you become one.
